You don't go to Vienna to stay in your hotel room and watch TV! What you need is a comfortable bed, a good shower, a hearty breakfast and ease of access to all of the sights. The Intercity provides all of these. Transfer from the airport was simple, a €4 ticket gets you to the hotel in about 40 minutes with S7 & U3. You've no more transport costs (except for the trip back to the airport) as you're given a free city transport card for the duration of your stay which is valid on buses, trams and the metro in the city. The reception staff are pleasant. The hotel is spotless.Rooms are small but comfortable. Free safe for valuables. No toiletries, just liquid soap/shower gel. Excellent breakfast with a wide range of cereals, fruits, yogurts, cheeses, cold meats, eggs, pancakes, bacon, juices, even prosecco! So when you've eaten enough to keep you going for the day, you pop outside to either of two metro stations within three minutes walk of the hotel and it's off (with your free pass) to see the sights. As for shopping, the hotel is on the main Shopping street in Vienna. The only problem is the lack of good restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. However, Spittalberg is only a fifteen minute stroll away and you'll find plenty of traditional Austrian restaurants there.

After reading some recent reviews on TA, I was worried about my selection of this hotel. But I had nothing to worry about.
Check in was smooth, I was given a non smoking room on the 4th floor. The room was clean, it contained a queen bed with two single doona covers (strange?). Bed was comfy, water was hot, and the room was heated.

The towels where thin as previous reviews have commented on- so i took my own. Sound proofing wasnt great, the persons alarm next door when off at 5am and it woke me up and you could also hear the television from neighbouring rooms. Im a deep sleeper once I was alseep I didnt hear a thing.

Included in my rate was both breakfast and the transport card, breakfast first of all. Large variety of food and if you asked the servers they would bring you hot chocolate instead of coffee (dont drink the stuff). The transport card is an awesome bonus, you can travel on train, tram or bus. Was never asked for a ticket once but still carried it just in case.
THe hotel is ideally located to the westbahnhof and the shopping district of vienna. From the hotel you can get pretty much anywhere in the city.

Overall I would definetly stay here again

Very good small hotel in the center of Vienna, great for business trips (one or two nights stay). Excellent location, two minutes from the subway station, and a 15-minute walk from the city center through the famous shopping street Mariahilfer Straße. The room is quite functional, with minimal furniture (table, chair, bed, nightstand, mini bar). The room rate includes a bottle of mineral water from the mini bar :-)
Breakfast very plentiful, buffet with a large selection (from flakes to various fruits, cheese, salami, eggs...), something for everyone.

Plus - clean rooms, great location and breakfast
Minus - small beds, I would not recommend it for two persons in one room

A very convenient hotel located on Mariahilfer Strasse, just a step from the underground no.3 going downtown Vienn ( 5 minutes). Close to the hotel is Vienn Westbanhof railway station.
The rooms are not so large but offer comfortable beds, tea/coffee maker, mini bar, flat TV with many channels in different languages. Towels are changed daily. Very good cleaning services.
Breakfast is very good , cold and hot buffet, tasty foods .The hotel offers sparkling wine in this period of Christmas.
Special remarks for entire front-desk team. They are very nice, polite, helpful and make you feel welcome. At the day of our arrival they make a room available for us even though the time was around 9:00 am. Many thanks for such a great service!
Another good thing : the hotel offers a free city card that can be used on buses, underground and train all over Vienn during you stay.
From the hotel you can explore Vienn starting with shopping on Mariahilfer Strasse were there are nice bars and restaurants, going forward on Karlsplatz to Stephan cathedral.
How to reach the hotel from the airport : there is a city bus shuttle at platform no.7 that goes directly to Westbanhof station. The journey takes cca 45 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the desk located into the airport, close to the exit door. The fare is 6.50 EUR/single ticket. If you have an on- line boarding bus there is a fare deduction. Tickets can be purchased also from the driver.
Another possibility from the airport is to take the train going to Westbanhof. The fare is about 12 EUR.

Room Tip: the rooms with back yard view are quieter

Stayed at the intercity hotel for 2 nights. Would agree with some of the reviews this is not a 4 star hotel, however it is a very functional hotel, which is clean and very reasonably priced.

Downside was the inability to change the temperature of the room, (too Hot) however was able to open the window. Statelite TV only good for German, French, Spanish & Italian speakers, English TV in news Channels only... However if you watch Footbal, they did show the Premier League. Didn't use the Wifi as it was far to expensive! Towels were thin! No Product...

Plus side, the Wiener line ticket is great, you can travel all over the city for free, although we were not asked for our ticket once! The location is great, just around the corner from the Bus/Train station. Marihilferstrasse is similar to Oxford Street, without Selfridges.. easy to walk down to the Museum Quarter and onwards into town.

Staff were very helpful.

Lots of Cafes and restaurants near to the hotel, be aware many allow smoking, which is very disconcerting..

We found a great place for Breakfast called Neni in the food market 15 min walk away, Also had breakfast in CAfe Sperl, more traditional cafe, eggs were great... 10 mins walk away. Cafe Ritte on Mariehilfstrasse, did great hot chocolate and apple strudel and was cheaper than a few places we went. All in all Vienna is an expensive city, average €4.50 for a cappucino (2 mouthfuls)

the acid test is would I stay there again and teh answer is Yes... For the price & location, it was a good utility type room.

Room Tip: We had a room facing teh courtyard, which was much quieter. Do not get a cab from the airport €5...

Small rooms with a weird smell, no air condition, no gym, all outdated and scratches on the walls, the surrounding neighborhood seems not safe. The bar is adjective to the reception desk with 6 chairs. Weird people seem to come and go all day.
