We chose the Maria Theresia because of the good rating in Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. We spent 5 nights there and much as I try I can't find anything to complain about.
The staff are all excellent, especially the Reception Staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Others have mentioned the outstanding buffet breakfasts which is served from 6.30 till 11 so ideal for those who like a lie in.
The room was well appointed and they've just started providing tea and coffee in the rooms which is a big plus. They're quite happy if you use the minibar as a fridge.
OK so there are only 3 English language channels (BBC World News), BBC Prime and CNN but that was enough for us.
The bistro bar provides reasonable snacks (the mixed ice creams are great for two to share) and Vladimir the barman is very friendly and helpful.
There are several computers for free internet access including one in the business centre although I found the German keyboards difficult to use. Z and Y are reversed.
Unless you're travelling light and know the city I wouldn't recommend using the train to get to the hotel from the airport as although it's easy to find once you know the way there are a lot of steps for luggage and a change.
There are lots of companies offering shuttle and limousine transfers from the airport. We booked online with a local company called "Airport Driver" (www.airportdriver.at) who charge 29 Euros each way. You just give them your name and flight details and the driver is there with a card with your name on it. You don't even have to pay in advance.
The 29 Euros was well worth it given that the train would have been 9 each plus the hassle of finding the hotel with luggage.
There are plenty of good restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel mainly on and just off the Burggasse. Most of these are frequented by locals. Just ask at reception.
I agree that the Vienna card is good value. Buy it at reception before you set off on your first day and you get unlimited travel for 72 hours and reduced rates on loads of museums, concerts etc.
