“Best location ever - excellent value!”
Reviewed 25 September 2010

I stayed at the Pension Nossek for 4 nights, and found it to be one of the best values of my stay. The location is perfect - you are literally right in the heart of Vienna, and just a few steps away from all the sights, great restaurants, shopping and public transportation. I had a single room, which as others have mentioned, was not very large, but it was certainly adequate for my needs. Everything was very clean, and there is an elevator.

The building itself is very interesting (Mozart lived here for about 10 months in 1781), and as I said, in a perfect location. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast was good- similar to most of the other breakfasts I'd had in Germany and Austria - with many options to choose from.

The only drawback was that the wi-fi was down for the first couple of days I was there. However, they fixed it and it was fine for the remainder of my stay. Overall, this was an excellent room if you're not looking for frills or luxury, but a good clean room in a superb location.

This is a classic example of a well run pension in a fabulous location. Yes, it is smaller, has less capacity, less facilities, and a skimpy breakfast compared to the area hotels. However for as low as 62 Euros / night (this was in early Sep-2010), you truly can not find better budget lodging for tourists in the heart of Vienna.

If you are the type who needs extra ammenities, space to spread out and lounge, or be surrounded by staff ready to meet your every need, this is definitely NOT the place for you. But if you just need a place to sleep and shower up, it will exceed your expecations.

Ok, it's hard for me to be critical because the two woman who run this hotel are delightful. However, I my room had hair in the bed, and there was no LAN Internet access in the room and the WI-FI did not work. The location is great but there are a lot of hotels in the same area. The walls were paper thin and I was woken up each morning by the loud thumps of people dragging their suitcases down the stairs. I would not stay here again if I return to Vienna.

The hotel is connected on U1 from Landstrasse (Wien Mitte), It is an easy connection from the airport to Wien Mitte, and then a transfer to U1 towards reumanplatz. Get off at Stephanplatz station, take the Graben Exit, continue walking for 3 minutes or so and the pension is on the left side.

Excellent, friendly and helpful frontdesk. Very genuine in dealing with guests.

Location is amazing. Plenty of eating places. will recommend Cafe Mozart for a treat.

Now to the rooms: we stayed last week, peak of summer I guess, and the sleep quality was terrible. There is no airconditioning and the room did not cool down until about 3 am. Indeed I will avoid this place again in summer.

The quality of soap provided at the bathroom is far from satisfactory when you paid 120 Euros a night. It is not a modern hotel but this aspect could be easily addressed by the owners.

And do not stay at this hotel if internet connection is important to you. I relied all through the stay on the free and excellent internet 10 minutes away in McDonald. There is a 5 Euro charge per day at this hotel for internet, but unfortunately it did not seem to work anywhere in the hotel all through the 5 days of my stay there.

Finally, the website says that it was Mozart's home. It is indeed true. However, it appears Mozart stayed in a part of this multitenant building for one year or so. That is the claim to fame. I just thought I should mention that.

By and large this will be great centrally located hotel when the weather is better. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was OK to get by.

The location is superb, in the centre of the pedesrian area above the main shops
Our room at the back was quite. The ones at the front might be a little louder, subject what time you go to bed. Breakfast continental fine. Hotel spread over 3 floors.Reception and breakfast on 2 floor, there is a lift, no problem. Its 120 Euros a night, cash only, a little steep but location superb .Flew with Easyjet to Vienna, at airport saw GREEN sign saying CAT (city airport train) 10 euros each single, very comfortable takes 15 minutes,go down stairs to the underground, its 2 stops to St Stephens, up stairs 3 minute walk. (cab from airport 40 euros each way)? No car needed trains and trams easy. Parking would be a night mare.I hope you enjoy the city as we did.

A small family owned business, it's in the ideal location for touring the best of Vienna. I won't repeat the other reviews.

We found the room to be very large, the owner to be helpful, the breakfast very good, etc. She even sold us a tram ticket so we would not need to figure out where to buy tickets.

A bit pricey but worth it for the location and the charming premises.

When you read consistently good reviews of a place you wonder if it is for real. In this case it is. Right down to the nightly serenade by the dinner suit wearing cellist busking on the Graben. Two lots of friends recommended this place to us and now we recommend it to you.
