From arrival to departure our stay was wonderful! The owner and hostess greeted us upon arrival with the warmth you would expect from family. We arrived after 6:00 pm-(we telephone to let them know of our late arrival) road "weary” tired and hungry. We were greeted promptly, and most importantly able to park our vehicles in there parking area! I emphases the importance of parking because it is valued space! We (my husband and I) were travelling with our Daughter, Son-in-law, 2 grandchildren, and our dog. Our apartments were across the hall from one another, and exactly as described-beautifully time period decorated, clean, and quite large! The bathrooms were updated and lovely. The breakfast was wonderful-large variety of items to choose from and always replenished immediately if needed. The staff was attentive, courteous, and not unlike the owner very hospitable. We were very pleased with the entire stay. We chose to walk to the historic district-it is a bit of a hike but we loved the fresh air and sights! Every expectation we had was met and exceeded.

Room Tip: The inside rooms away from the street are very quite.

We were greeted by the owner upon arrival. She was absolutely fantastic to deal with, extremely helpful and friendly. The room was exquisitely decorated as were the halls!! The breakfast selection was extensive to cover the tastes of everyone. We needed both an early arrival and a late departure and the hotel was happy to store our bags both times as well as arrange a taxi to pick us up at the specific time needed. Hope to get another chance to stay here soon!!!

"Happy waking up in your hotel room and wondering whether you are in Shanghai, Seattle or Santiago? Happy with gratuitous opulence and insipid fakes? If so, then the Rothensteiner is not for you. If on the other hand you hanker after the elegance of Hapsburgs and would like a chance to be, in a small way, for a short time, part of that world, then it certainly is. Here you can afford a spacious apartment with high ceilings, folding doors, oriental rugs, Biedermeier furniture, a short walk from the KHM and much more, somewhere you can read Stefan Zweig (its fine in English) as you doze off. Friendly, family owned and operated (the Rothensteiners of course). It’s not really a hotel; it’s your home in Vienna."

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are quieter

Four of us were driving through Europe, planning our vacation as we drove and we found this place-- EXTREMELY last minute. We booked it online and rolled into town moments later. The reception girl was super pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. Our room was the apartment, 2 double beds, 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette, and a living room. Plenty of room for us and it was comfortable. We got it a great price and we can't complain about anything. In fact the breakfast which was a Greek/German spread was surprisingly wonderful. (And served until 11am!) They served fresh goat cheese, Sheep cheese, fresh yogurts, and veggies. Very eclectic, but delicious. Checking out was simple and once again our receptionist was wonderful. Almost stayed longer because we had such a pleasant stay.

It may not be the most up to date and modern of Hotels, but Hotel Rothensteiner is such a great place to stay when visiting Vienna. The owner and family are all really lovely people, very welcoming, very accommodating. The owner himself seems to have a photographic memory of every street in Vienna and can tell you how to get anywhere from the Hotel. Breakfast is a large spread of many and varied dishes, all homemade and laid out fresh for each morning.

We stayed in a number of different apartments. Single occupancy rooms at the top of the building with en suite and cooking facilities. The large apartments for three or more people are beautiful. Modern facilities with a very Viennese Baroque design influence. high ceiling, tal windows, very clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced.

The Aparthotel Rothensteiner is a very cute B&B inn with wonderful service. It is located just outside the Inner Stadt so we used the metro. The metro stop is about 4-5 blocks away, so it is a bit of a walk. The hotel rooms have a small kitchenette to assist those with making snacks and lunches to go. Great experience. We also took our dog, they do lot charge extra pet fees. Only problem is that the closest grass is at the metro stop.

I booked a single and was given a studio with kitchenette on the top floor (5th floor) and everything worked just fine: decent size fridge, good size flat screen TV with a few international channels and WIFI internet. The single bed therein was comfortable with very clean sheets and was large enough to (probably) accommodate two (if they so wish). The first night I was given a studio facing the main street, and, when windows are open you hear traffic noise. Then I asked to switch to another one facing an enclosed courtyard and it was so quiet that I could sleep without any hindrance. The included buffet breakfast was satisfying and the coffee so good (an entire pot is included for every guest and that was cool). The entire edifice is interesting and very nicely decorated for truly nice Viennese experience, plus location is unbeatable as you are a mere kilometer (less than 15 minutes walking or 3 minutes by Bus 48A) from the so called Museum Quarter. During my stay my host was a wonderful lady from Hungary. She was responsive and helpful. For what I paid what a great/fantastic VALUE! I'd stay there again at the soonest opportunity.

Room Tip: Top floor units can be hot (in hot weather). Ask for units facing away from the sun.
