Looking for friendly, helpful people in an amazing city? Hotel Kugel's staff was terrific, real, warm, welcoming, very helpful. Room was basic, simple, comfortable and clean--no frills. Small lift, Smoke-free environment, Beautiful art and antiques in the hallways--like a gallery. Convenient tram connection to Museums etc right outside the front door, U connection an easy walk, wonderful small bakeries and restaurants nearby. A great value, priceless memories.

You are made to feel welcome and the manager and staff were extremely helpful. Location is very good , being a 10 minute walk from the Ring, with trams right at the door ,also bus to the airport . Plenty of eating places within easy walking distance.
Room was comfortable and clean and amenities good .We both thought it
good value for money

We asked for 3 beds (parents and 12 years old) room in December (should be high season in Wien) and were given large 4 beds room for 105 Euro per night. It was clean, breakfast is good and hotel's location is central. We would definitely recommend it. WiFi Internet would not hurt this hotel but there is one across the road in cafe. Hotel do not accept credit cards, a bit strange for Europe but was not a problem for us at all.

we stayed for 4 nights and left on New Years Day. This hotel has lovely very clean rooms, but the common area and the lobby are horrible. breakfast is far from decent and they have to have a renovation by the end of this year.
the big issue is that they don't take credit cards , which is rare and quite uncomfortable, no tourist wants to carry so much money.

We searched this hotel in trip advisor and contacted the hotel via email, requested and booked for a double room with a toilet.

I arrived at the hotel and realised that this hotel does not not have credit card facilities. And when we were shown to our room, I realised that what we were given was a sort of run down hostel. Traffic noise on th streets were very audible eventhough it was on a 3rd floor.

Decor is old and and outdated, sparsely furnished with old furniture and wall paper. The rooms are far from those that were shown in the website, and it has that lingering old, mouldy smell. And the window by the corridor is not installed with proper curtain, allowing direct view into the room and toilet, facing the window, which does not make me feel very safe.

I wasn't very comfortable as well with the location. The neighbouhood does not seems very friendly.

We went out to source for another accomodation and moved out in a hour, paying a full 1 night charge.

I would like to add that if you are looking for a price sensitive place at a location near the sights, this might be your potential accomodation. What was upsetting for me was that I was expecting for a 3-star hotel but landed with a backpacker room.

No wonder ! This WAS a backpacker/students
room ! IT WAS ORDERED THAT WAY! The room request was accurate down to the room number, and we do what one can expect from
a proper hotel - we fullfill our guests wishes. If you want room A, you will get room A, not room C. Therefore, we fullheartedly refuse any
acceptance of this particular critic. Nobody can expect to order a very particular budget room and find himself in a supreme canopy room for free. Things like this just do not work.

We stayed here for 3 nights, mostly over a Vienna weekend.

We tried to book one of the less expensive rooms but we ended up in one of the canopy rooms as the others were booked. It was very much like the photos on the website, although the room was nowhere near as large as it seemed it could be from their photos. Our room had been completely remodeled. The shower was a brand new stand up one piece deal which was rather small and slippery but no worse than anything I encountered in Italian hotels.

Our room faced the street but the tram really did not bother me even with the windows open -- but I am a heavy sleeper and not put off by some street noise.

Some put down the breakfast and breakfast room (including the Time Out Vienna) but I didn't have a problem with it at all and the lady in there was always pleasant. We had about 5 different desk attendants though our relatively short stay. They were all helpful and courteous but some were more friendly than others.

The surrounding neighborhood seems to be a fairly "hip" area with lots of fun shops, cafes and spots. We were especially taken with the Seibenstern Brew Pub which is a short walk down the road for the hotel. We also had a very entertaining evening drinking at the Voodoo Cafe a few doors down. It is definitely quite a dark and divey place but we enjoy those kind of places. The Cafe Nil also seemed to have quite the scene going on as well.

Booked this hotel for three nights. On the second day, the lock on our door broke. This prevented the door from closing. As it was a Saturday, the front desk clerk told us it could not be fixed. The hotel was fully booked and therefore we could not move to another room. The clerk told us it would be perfectly safe for us to stay, but since we were uncomfortable we found a different hotel.
