We arrived Vienna on 10 Oct 08 and stayed at Hotel Praterstern for a night. It was one of the BEST hotel room I ever stayed in Europe!! We were given one of the rooms on level 4, and it was extremely spacious, modern and new. The wardrobe is huge, and there is a flat screen LCD TV and a glass dining table at the corner of the room. The double bed is very comforatable and there is a fan by the bedside (no airconditioner).
For ladies, you will like the spacious dressing table and the rainshower in the bathroom. The room is handicapped-friendly so that explains the size of the room as well. I was told the rooms on level 4 were new (there were only 4 of them).

Breakfast was average, sufficient to start the day.

Location of the hotel is convenient. Near S bahn (Wien Nord), only 5-10 mins walk. No hassle to carry our luggages to the station which brings you direct to the Airport (Wien). The train to airport (S7) arrives at interval 21 & 51 mins of each hour and the journey took only 30 mins. Very comfortable ride. Ticket costs Eur3.70 per person one way.

For a rate of Eur68 per night, I would say this was the best "value-for-money" hotel stay in Vienna. I believe guests who made a recent stay will also echo the same sentiments if they enjoyed the experience of such.

Only spent one night in this hotel due to the rudeness and disinterest of the staff. Despite having booked ahead for a double room we were initially shown a (tiny) twin room. Showing the booking confirmation got us moved (reluctantly) to a better room. The bathroom was tiny but room seemed clean and quiet. The manager seemed more interested in smoking with his friends than dealing with guests. Breakfast was minimal and the meat and cheese all looked a bit stale. No credit card facilities!
Were very glad to move to another hotel for the other 3 nights of our stay! Cheap but nasty!

Four of us (2 kids) stayed in a family room on the first floor for 3 nights. Room was all right and an O.K. size and kept clean enogh. Our main gripe was that the manager and his friends stood around at the reception desk/ bar area and smoked continually through the day & night, The smell when you walked in and right up the stairs to the first floow was terrible.
Breakfast was not great. Very limited choice not even any cereal available and if you wanted anything different then you were charged for it. Also the service area through to the kitchen was continually stacked with dirty dishes right through breakfast.
The other thing that annayed about this place was that whilst the tariff was pretty good once you got there there was a lot of added costs such as 3 Euros a day for a safety deposit box. Worse still the manager wouldn't tell us were to find a laundromat instead wanting 15 Euros per load to wash our clothes.
The location is reasonable and close to the metro but I don't think I would stay there again, I'd rather pay a bit more and stay at a more centrally located and more friendly hotel.

We have stayed at this hotel on several ocassions. The only negative report we have is that the cleaning ladies are a bit loud in the early mornings! This hotel is very close to the train station, which goes all the way to the airport. We literally dragged out suitcases to the hotel with no problem. On one ocassion we had a rental car, and we had only some trouble finding a parking spot in the neighbourhood. The staff is polite and helpful. They have a Continental breakfast which consisted of breads, meats, cheeses, coffee, tea, yoghurt, etc. It's meant to be light. We would highly recommend this hotel for the low-middle budget traveller!
