This time, I was lucky to visit Albertina while there was a temporary exhibition of Albrecht Durer which is a rare opportunity to see his works ("Young Hare" and others). It was a wonderful experience.

We saw the Monet to Picasso exhibition and I think we both assumed this would be more extensive then it turned out to be. Modern art - meh. Blow up exhibition full of trendies, not for us. Staterooms were interesting but we were through the whole place in less than an hour.

After spending hours in other (better) museums in Vienna (Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Natural History, etc), Albertina was a huge let down.
Entry fee of 12 Euros is quite expensive.
Permanent collection (Monet to Picasso) was quite interesting and i did spend considerable amount of time admiring the fine work. But other collections (Blow up, etc.) were disappointing, neither interesting nor art masterpieces you encounter in other museums.
Recommended only if one has covered all other attractions and still has money to spare.

That is why we organise several temporary exhibiton which are opened at the same time. Please, dear Tripadvisors, if you are not sure about the temporary exhbitions just send us your questions by tripadvisor, it will be a pleasure for us to inform you ! All the best!

Located in a vibrant cultural hub, the Albertina is an impressive gallery housing both modern and Austrian culture. The strong solid building is cleverly designed......a beautiful red carpet staircase leads to several pleasant surprises .....a modern art gallery and grand old Austrian period interiors and furniture....and brilliant chandeliers....matched with string bold colours. The restaurant cafe is stylish. It is one of a few gallery shops that I ended up buying a few things. We were fortunate to visit Blow Up a photographic exhibition ....the layout of the photographs was well put together that drew in visitors to the photographs. This is well worth a visit!

After Leopolds' Museum I felt hunger for Klimt and I was also counting for exhibition "From Monet to Picasso" The exhibition was impressive, but one floor, 2nd, was closed and I didn't knew about iit buing a ticket. There was one more exhibition "Blow up" but in my opinion is better to watch a movie than some pictures and snippets.
