“Beautiful Plaza”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

The Freyung has the Church of Our Lady of the Scots and it also has the beautiful Palais Kinsky, so it is an elegant plaza. It also has the Austria-Brunnen fountain.

“Shopping mall with elegance and historic perspective”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

The Freyung Passage is an elegant shopping arcade built in the 19th century as part of the Ferstel Palace. The arcade links the Herrengasse with the Freyung historic square. The arcade was designed by architect Heinrich von Ferstel in 1860. The marble-clad passage with pilasters and vaulted ceiling is lined with luxury stores. There is a wonderful chocolate shop and the Cafe Central which was in the 19th century the favorite meeting place of the literary Jung-Wien movement. Many notable socialists, including Trotsky, were also regulars here.

“A quiet square in the centre of Vienna”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

Although in the centre of Vienna it's a peaceful, quiet square, especially in the evening, with some nice terraces, a small farmer market during daytime and the beautiful Schottenstift.

“Great Little Area”
Reviewed 9 January 2012

While not really oriented towards "real" Vienna, Freyung is a beautiful piece of urban infrastructure. There's almost always a special event here.
