“Great place for a fan of the Emperess Sissi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

Having read the comments on Tripadvisor we were a bit concerned that the museum might be too boring (its groudn floor).

Since my wife is a great fan of the Emperess Sissi, we decided to go any way and the museum did exceeded our expectations - we actually liked the ground floor (with all dishes and silverware) as well. The audion guide was great - though someone may argue that it is too detailed and lengthy. If someone does want to learn about the Kaiser's life and realities, the exhibits provide quite a comprehensive picture of it. The ticket's price is not cheap but it is worth every cent of it

“Impressive and imposing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

Even just viewing from the outside, especially at night when well lit, you can see the impressive nature of this building. Excellent that this is in the middle of a city where it could just be another office block (as so many of the buildings look the same) but the statues out the front give this away as something 'different'.

“Very Interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2013

When you visit the Sisi Museum you are also shown about 19 apartments used by Sisi and her husband, the Emperor Franz Joseph. All the imperial apartments are interesting. The most interesting are the ones used by Sisi herself. You can see the exercise equipment she used for her daily exercises.

“Dinnerware, dinnerware, dinnerware and Sisi”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2013

I was underwhelmed with room after room of dinnerware and gold and silver service. Even the audio guide provided little detail about what the tourist is looking at. I love the pomp and fuss of royalty but Sisi was not too interesting. She was obsessed with her hair and her trim, fit body and wanted privacy. Sound familiar? She has been made into a tourist attraction. How sad! I would skip the treasury and Sisi museum and head over to Schonbrunn Palace and Gardens for the day, especially is you are travelling with young children (I wasn't). The coach museum is very interesting and I have not seen anything like it in my extensive travels. The palace is interesting and does house some of the same items that the treasury has. There is a marionette museum and a zoo also.

“Most interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2013

I'd visited many royal palaces and was very amazed and pleased to find this one tells a bit different story - more humane and personal. Lots of peculiar details about daily life of the Emperor's family.
The audio guide gives thorough information, yet the pieces are not that long to make you bored.
I am very pleased - definitely worth time and money spent!
