“Nice but dangerous after dark”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

While this plaza is very nice and has many places to eat it's placed right above a terminal metro station, with drug addicts and the like prowling around. Usually it's safe regardless since this people aren't violent.

However, I got robbed 300 euros by thieves posing as policemen here, flashing "official" badges etc. And it was around 7 pm so it's not like it was super late or anything. Just try not to be around while it's dark and if you must be, just don't let your guard down like I did.

“wine and good food”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

This area or square, has a lot of Christmas market as it was December. They have designer stuff not found in other countries their Christmas decorations are beautifully made but expensive. There were many tourists and locals walking around , good place to walk and you can view the Charls church as well . It was very joyful as it was Christmas time. It has great landmarks so one can easily find their way especially if you are a tourist or come in big tour groups.

“Christmas Market with Great Mulled Wine & Food”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

What a wonderful surprise to find that the Christmas Markets in Vienna were NOT filled with "Made in China" designer knock offs!
This particular market was very close to our hotel, so it was the first I visited. The hot mulled wine was absolutely delicious…another surprise. I ate my 1st hot dog Vienna style and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. During the 12 days I was in Vienna, I visited this market often and tasted many of the chocolate and other delicacies…all wonderful.
There were many crafts for sale and most of very high quality and well priced. The vendors were polite and helpful when I asked them questions about the items they made and offered for sale.
There is a lot of live music in the evenings, and it creates a great Christmas mood.
If you are in Vienna for the Christmas holidays, the Christmas Markets are a "must do" and this is one of my favorites.

“Advent market”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

we had the good fortune of being in Vienna in December. At that time some of the big plazas become markets for Christmas. Some specialize in handmade crafts others in small gifts; but they all have hot wine and great food. There is something special about wandering through this market in particular when the Charles Church is all lit up and there are hundreds of people there any given evening.

“Karlskirche is a Great Landmark”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

Just look around the area and the Karlskirche with it's columns lets you know where you are. Enjoyed the Christmas market here. They had a small petting zoo for the children as well as some activities for them- candle making was one. Not too far from Naschmarkt and served by numerous trams and the Ubahn.
