The best part of this church is the beautiful white and gold altar. It's a bit dark and hard to see, but get up close and check our the amazing carving.

This beautiful church has been undergoing spectacular renovations to its ceiling and frescos and offers twice weekly concerts featuring lighter classical music. Category 3 seats are fine as the acoustics are very good

Vienna has some magnificent churches that you can visit, one being Michaelerkirche (St. Michael's Church), found on the busy and important Michaelerplatz (St. Michael's Place).

St. Micheal's is one of the oldest of Vienna's church being originally built in the 13th century. It is dedicated to Archangel Michael and includes a real mix-match of architectural styles as a result of restorations and add ons during later centuries. Here you can find the surviving gothic tower and nave structure, romanesque interiors arcades, Baroque style choir chapels as well as a gorgeous high alter "Maria Candida", a Byzantine era icon of the Virgin Mary.

Out front, you can see the Neoclassical facade featuring the Rococo style 'Fall of Angels' sculptures by Lorenzo Mattielli from the late 18th century. St. Michael's is also the sight of a famous crypt which rests beneath the church. In the end, the medley of architectural styles.

Hint: There is much more to see at Michaelerplatz, where you find Michaelerkirche (St. Michael's church) including the Hofburg Entrance and its huge Hercules statues, the 'Mastery of the Sea' fountain and open air roman ruins known as Excavations Michaelerplatz. The historically important Loohaus is found on this square and just up the street you can visit the historic and famed Demel Cafe.

Located not far from Michaelersplatz, this un-assuming church has a most stunning altar. It's free to enter and definitely worth seeing the craftsmanship of the centrepiece.

This is a nice church, and while it's not as fancy as other churches in Vienna, this church is located just opposite of the entrance to the grand Hofburg.
Do not visit the crypt unless you are comfortable with seeing surprisingly well preserved 18th century corpses in their open coffins. A bit too creepy, if you ask me... .
