“City tour”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 via mobile

We walked through the centre of Vienna as part of a city tour. You can't miss Stephansplatz which is really the centre if the city. It is dominated by the cathedral which is a must to visit. Leading off are several major shopping streets with a mixture of high end and tourist outlets. There are also a lot of cafés including one right in the square.

“"Best place to book hotel"”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

The Stephansplatz is a square at the geographical centre of Vienna. It is named after its most prominent building, the Stephansdom, Vienna's cathedral and one of the tallest churches in the world. Before the 20th century, a row of houses separated Stephansplatz from Stock-im-Eisen-Platz, but since their destruction, the name Stephansplatz started to be used for the wider area covering both. To the west and south, respectively, run the exclusive shopping streets Graben (literally "ditch") and Kärntner Straße ("Kärnten" is the German for Carinthia). Opposite the Stephansdom is the Haas-Haus, a piece of striking modern architecture by Hans Hollein. Although public opinion was originally skeptical about the combination of the mediaeval cathedral and the glass and steel building, it is now considered an example of how old and new architecture can mix harmoniously .

“"Favorite place at Vienna"”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

With the St. Peter’s Church, St Stephan’s Cathedral, cafes, restaurants, bars, and everything, this is the center of Vienna. Walk around, go shopping, take pictures, eat one of the huge Viennese style sausages from street vendors, have an ice cream at Eis Greissler, relax with a coffee and apfelstrudel or sachertorte at Konditorei L. Heiner, or dine at Figlmüller and have a huge size Wiennerschnitzel. If you want, you may also make your own plan. I am sure there is definitely something you will like in Stephansplatz.

“The heart of Vienna”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

This is where it all starts...Stephansplatz. The Graben on one side, Kirtnerstrasse plus many other busy thoroughfares radiating out from this centre. The quality of the buskers in the near vicinity are the best in the world and even the smell of horse manure from the stylish carriages doesn't turn you off the many wonderful smells from the coffee houses and restaurants.

“The Central Hub of Vienna”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

Stephansplatz was the central hub of Vienna. There are lots of cafes, shops and people watching with the backdrop of the St. Stephens Cathedral. Definitely grab a table in one of the outdoor cafes and enjoy the view.
