Vienna is a second home to me, and when I decided to take a pre Christmas break there, I wanted a central location to make the best of the short time in the city. The hotel Marc Aurel is situated perfectly on the edge of the inner stadt just a few hundred meters from Schwedenplatz underground station and just a few steps from the airport bus.

The hotel itself is in a fairly quite street and we were greeted on arrival by a very friendly gentleman, who saw to it that we were given our room key and various maps and leaflets to digest for our visit. The reception was small but well looked after and soon we were in the small, but aromatic lift (shake and vac required). Our room was on the 2nd floor and faced the street below.

Once inside, the room had everything we needed. A small table and chairs by the large window, double bed, small flat screen tv and a few bed side tables. There's a large wardrobe and plenty of places to put your clothes and suitcases once you've unpacked.there's also a minibar which was great for storing the odd bit of milk or soft drinks. The bathroom featured a shower, toilet and sink unit with complimentary toiletries.

The room is exactly what I expected from this 3 star hotel and was very comfortable. However, the walls are quite thin and its easy to be disturbed by the odd guest now and again as they return home in the evenings. The outside street can also be a bit noisy at odd times of the day, as the 0630 beer delivery to a restaurant showed me one morning

Included in the Room rate is breakfast, which is available in the restaurant every morning. The choice is ok without being overwhelming with breads, cereals, cold meats and yogurts being available along with copious amounts of tea and coffee. It's all rather nice.

To sum up, the hotel Marc Aurel makes no pretensions to its statue, its a great simple little 3 star hotel that delivers what it says without fuss. If your looking for a reasonably priced location to explore the city from, then this is for you.

It was a great price for the location. Staff was friendly and helpful and breakfast was pretty good. I was on the 3rd floor (#38) facing the street. The room was cozy and the bed was comfortable. There was one oversized pillow which was great but I wanted another which the staff promptly gave me without flinching. A block from the metro and super close to Stephanplatz. I would stay here again.

Centrally located! But the hotel was disappointing. Breakfast was satisfactory and front desk staff was helpful. The only elevator had a very weird fishy smell. Wi-fi very erratic! Expected to be better after reading the reviews

We stayed a few nights here and the hotel manager at the front desk was very accommodating and nice. We were greeted every time we walked in the door. The wifi was free and worked great. The buffet breakfast in the kitchen was great. The location is undoubtably fantastic, walking distance to MQ and surrounding bars and restaurants in the inner city. The only down side is the beds are not double beds they have a separator between the double. I personally found the beds hard. The rooms are very small and not much room to walk around and have suitcases. Furthermore, the decor and bathroom is like old European style but nonetheless very clean and I felt comfortable. The rooms are not very soundproofed either but not too bad. Overall great price for the location and when your traveling you only need a clean private room to rest your head anyway.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, very central and couple of minutes away from the underground station. Apart from that the hotel is clean and basic. Breakfast is a little disappointing.

The best part of this hotel is location for tourists, since from airport if you take bus shuttle to city it will dis-embark you just in front of hotel (few walking steps...and similar way while going back to airport). And then it's located at center of all the happening places of Vienna city.

There is church nearby and all the shopping places, food joints, pubs etc around to enjoy the stay. You can also take 1 day pass (allow to board metro/bus etc any times for 1 day) to have sight-seeing of city.

The hotel is budget hotel (although expensive since Vienna is costly city being capital and also tourist hub to other european cities, so hotels are costly) so rooms are of decent size and buffet breakfast was also OK.

For anyone who wish to have sightseeing of beautiful Vienna city, this hotel is good choice if you are coming from Vienna airport.
