Our six night experience at the Hotel Wien was in keeping with those who have given this hotel an excellent rating. Previous reviewers comments about location, amenities, staff and breakfast buffet were very accurate. We arrived from the airport after a thirty minute ride on the OGG Schnelbahn (Red Train) to Praterstern Station costing approx. 11 euro, and a five minute walk to the hotel. The hotel itself is located on Praterstrassa which, via the Nestroyplatz subway station, is only minutes from Stephensplatz and the cultural center of Vienna. While Praterstrassa has a somewhat 'gritty' quality, it's advantages include a lower activity level, a variety of casual eating establishments (one suggestion being 'Zina's', a small Lebanese eatery with unique flavors, friendly staff and reasonable price), and a 'Spar' convenience store and pharmacy nearby.

As others have mentioned, the staff is excellent overall, but Christoph in particular is a gem. We were in need of a dentist to evaluate an unanticipated tooth problem and Christoph had us into to see an excellent local dentist within hours. Simply outstanding service...

Bottom line, you can be confident of an excellent experience when booking with the Austria Classic Hotel Wien.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the inner courtyard seem quieter.

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel when we were on holiday in Vienna. It was well located for sightseeing because there is a tube station (Nestroyplatz) really close by. We didn't try and walk it because it was over 30 degrees when we were in Vienna!

Luckily for us the room had air conditioning, which we definitely needed. Every member of staff was very friendly and helpful, particularly the reception staff member Christoph.

The room was clean an comfortable. The only downside for us was that we had the room at the top of the stairs on the first floor, and there were some really noisy guests staying the same time as us. I suspect we would have heard them in any hotel (indeed, people staying in other hotels may well have heard them they were so noisy!!) but earplugs solved that one easily. Perhaps when you stay here, ask for a quiet room not near the stairs.

The breakfast was good - lots of choice and the food itself was good quality. Very long serving period as well, breakfast was served right through until 11.00. In the evening there is no restaurant attached but there is a bar and they have nice drinks and it's not very expensive.

I would happily stay at this hotel again if we go back to Vienna.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the stairs if you can, because other guests might be noisy!

The location of this hotel is great. The cab ride from the station we arrived into was supposed to be a short 15 minute cab ride- but due to road closures from some sort of travelling electronic music fest, it turned into a 30 minute cab ride which ended with us getting out and walking to our hotel. The ravers were right in front of our hotel when we arrived which was actually pretty cool!
We could have taken city trains to the station which is located down the street from the hotel but we didn't want to navigate them since we got in a little late.

Our hotel room was tiny. It was basically a bed (two single/twin mattresses in one double or queen bed frame). The bathroom was also tiny. A very small stand up shower. I could barely bend over to shave my legs and I'm just a short/average person! But it was clean so I digress...
Breakfast was included in our stay. It was pretty good. Normal stuff- eggs, cheeses (LOTS of cheeses), sliced meats, fruit, yogurt, cereal, breads galore.

Apparently Vienna closes a lot of its stores/services on the weekends. It was very difficult to find somewhere to eat on a Saturday night. This hotel isn't super close to the main downtown area (maybe 15 minute walk), but definitely close enough. It rained our only full day there (5/10/14-5-12-14), which was unfortunate. But we still did a tour of the city and stopped at Summer Palace which was interesting. If we went back we would definitely stay at this hotel again because we really liked it and the location. You need more than one full day to see the city- there is just so much to see.

The hotel was very clean with nice rooms. They had a great breakfast with a very attentive staff. The downside is it is very far from the historic center. It is more like a 30-40 minute walk to the historic centre, not sure how the other reviewer made it in 15 minutes. We needed an extra room for the second night and the manager wanted 255 euros for the room, said there was a Stones concert in town and rooms were at a premium. We declined and booked at he Grand Wien for only 60 euros more in the center of town in a 5 star hotel.

The hotel was outside of the tourist area but was an easy 15-20 minute walk into the historic centre of the city. There was plenty to do in the area surrounding the hotel, in terms of restaurants and bars. The hotel itself was comfortable and the rooms were a decent size. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and ample space for all diners. The hotel staff were efficient and were able to provide is with recommendations for good food on the area. There was an odd smell in the bathroom which was not particularly pleasant, but but overall this was a good stay.

We were impressed with this hotel from the moment we entered. The night front desk man knew immediately who we were when we walked in. He was a wealth of information and very friendly as well. The room itself was very clean with side by side singles which is very common in Europe. There was a small refrigerator with mini bar items but there was some room for our own things.

We had forgotten the hotel price included breakfast as we had booked the hotel several months in advance. It was excellent and a great start to our days there. The hotel was only a block away from the train or the metro and it was only 2 or 3 stops on the metro to the old town. We came from the airport and luckily took the regular train(cheaper and more exit options)....enroute we discovered that getting off the stop after the main station(Praterstrasse was the station 1 block from the hotel) got us within a block of our hotel.

We booked two rooms for 2 nights from 2/6. We asked for quiet rooms, which overlooked the parking lot/courtyard. The rooms provided were comfortable and functional. The location is handy to the metro and if you don't mind walking, it takes about 20 mins-30mins to walk into the old centre of town. The area the hotel is located in isn't pretty, however this did not bother us as we were out sightseeing most of the day and evening. For a great meal, head into the old centre and go to Cafe Central.
The staff at this hotel spoke good English and were very helpful.
