“A first class choice for visiting Vienna”
Reviewed 5 April 2010

We were very impressed with the quality of this hotel. Our room on the second floor was extremely comfortable and modern. The continental breakfast provided a wide choice with as much as you could eat. The staff were excellent both in their friendly manner and service.
The Hotel is situated within yards of the metro with easy access to all parts of the city. However it is only a short walk of about 20 minutes from the Hotel to the city centre.
We would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone wishing to visit Vienna.

This hotel was recommended especially for business travelers and it did not disappoint. I arrived in Vienna by bus from Brno, Czech Republic and was dropped off at Prater Station, a stone's throw form the hotel. They permitted an early check-in at noon and I found the room to be beyond my expectations for the price paid. Praterstrasse 72 is an easy 10-15 minute walk from Stephans Dom and the other attractions in Vienna. The staff were very helpful, the rooms very clean and the linen of very good quality. For me as a business traveler it was outstanding value and I will definitely stay there on my next trip to Vienna.

The Hotel Wien has an excellent location and is great value for money. The service is on top level, and you feel the Austrian hospitality from the moment you enter the hotel. The breakfast room is cosy and the buffet has a large and tasty selection. Definately a first choice for our next visit.

This was the cheapest hotel I could find for my travel dates, and I've been very impressed. The room is on the small side but very nice. Same for the bathroom. They are renovating some of the rooms, but I've had no problems with the noise. Front desk is friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a nice gym with sauna. It's in a safe part of town near the U-bahn station, but it's not close to the major tourist sites. Overall, it has been a perfect fit for my needs.

We chose this hotel based on reviews from TA, all worked out very well! hotel is spotless, great location, warm, helpful staff & great value. It is a great 3 star hotel & I would definitely return if back in Vienna. There is a supermarket 2 mins away as well as various coffee shops. You would prob head into the city for a 'proper meal' but that is only a few mins on the subway.

The single rooms with a small twin bed won't give you any feeling of luxury, but, for the price can't be beat. I paid about $50US a night -- great. I can't say this place is 'no frills' because it's nicer inside than you might think it would be and there is a minibar in the room.
The neighborhood isn't what I would consider great, but it is 1 block to Praterstern, where you can catch many types of public transportation, including a direct S bahn train to the airport (which I took instead of the CAT train, for about 1/5th of the price.)
I didn't find any restaurants nearby, but there are nice little bakeries, a couple little cafes, and a McDonalds in Praterstern.
If you are looking for someplace to sleep after a long day of sightseeing or business and watching your spending, this is a fantastic option. If you are looking for more space, luxury, and comfort, try the Imperial Riding School Renaissance (see my other review). If you want to be in the center of all of the action, don't stay either place!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in December 2009. Whilst I would fall short of recommending it, it is a reasonably good hotel, and was perfectly adequate for our purposes.

The rate that we paid for the room was quite good - about 80 euros per night - and the hotel's location was good for us - it is about a 20 minute walk to the centre of town. The room itself was reasonably basic, but it was comfortable and quiet. There was no bath and the room was slightly dark, but there was enough space to put everything and trhere were enough English language tv stations to keep you entertained. I felt that the hotel had a slightly depressing atmosphere, but that may have just been me.

The staff was OK. Like most of the people who we struck in Vienna, they did not go out of their way to be friendly, but they were not difficult either. In fact, they were generally quite helpful. On the whole, not a bad hotel at all, and quite good value.
