Excellent atmosphere in an amazing location, and this in beautiful Vienna. Menu of the day is really good value for money and the menu choice has a bit of Belgian-Namurois influence, as the Host/Maitre d'hôtel is Belgian. For my birthday, all our 80 guests were impressed with the service and the food and drinks. In addition to the excellent cakes, the "Leberkaese" snacks went away like hot cakes. Especially our international guests like them more than anything.
And the live music performance of an Opera Bariton, just made it an unforgettable experience for me and all my/our birthday guests.

We spent our holidays in Vienna last week. On wendsday,19.02. night we were happy to see the perfomance at the Vienna Opera. It was a wonderfull evenig, the performance was Great and the service at your restaurant we enjoyed before and after the visit of the opera was amazing. Next Day we decided to end our nice trip with a breakfast in this cafe. We were concerned about the situation, because there was just the barman working, perhaps the waiter was late, but he handled it well. At the end we wanted to pay but the waiter was still missing. We went to the desk and saw a waiter playing with his phone and smoking a cigarette near the kitchen. His behaviour was very rude and he said the tip wasn't included in the Bill!!! Maybe we were Not so grnerous but he didn't work at all nor wait on us!!! At least our visit to the Vienna Opera was a Great experience but the service of it's restaurant seems to be improovable.

We were there on Jan 1, 2013 in the morning to view the New Year Concert on the installed CD. As it happens three years ago was great but now, only one TV was working, and besides finding out after we started to have our breakfast, we had to move to a different table. Food was ok, service so and so, the only thing we were shocked that on the bill we found written by them with a pen the "TIPP- 22.00 EURO ", I think this is a little to much for a a 129.40 bill, and for Austria. We stayed in austria 2 weeks and this was the only place they hand wrote the tip. Normally we live what we consider not we are imposed. Many austrians leave 1-2 euro tip, not 22.00 as this guys. It is a place oriented to ripoff tourists.

Dear Miro2014,

I am very sorry for this incident and very thankful for your comment. It is strictly forbidden for our waiters to claim a tip. In the last year we worked very hard to improve our quality and service, so it personally hurts to hear from such a incident. Once more, we are very sorry and we will initiate further consequences. Please contact our office through our Website, so we can make up for this incident.

We are sorry for the TV Problems, this was beyond our control, the opera had a problem with the system.

After all we are very thankful for your visit and your help, to avoid such incorrect behaviour.

Sincerly,
Your Café Oper Wien

As we came one hour earlier to attend a concert at the opera, we went to this coffee shop to have a light dinner. Though we enjoyed the great view on the streets, the food was average and the service slow.

Saturday lunchtime and sat at a table on the terrace
Very busy as beautiful day.
One waiter for 30 tables................This we noticed at numerous places during our stay.
Service was slow and in the end like so many left payment in cash on the table as simply couldn't get waiters attention.
Great place to people watch, coffee ok but by no means hot by the time you finally receive it.
Have a beer instead and watch the world go by!
