The sights are lovely. There are quite a number of restaurants in case you go hungry. The path is very safe for bikers and runners. I would love to go back again someday!

A group of 8 of us took a boat and bike trip up the Danube from Passau to Vienna. e had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the bike path along the Danube. The scenery is delightful passing through fields, waterways, tiny village, vineyards and country roads. There are plenty of places to stop along the way. I would highly recommend this bike path.

We rode three parts of the Danube Bikeway in one long trip over six weeks. The first part, the German Danube, begins in Donaueschingen at the spring Donauquelle. The bike path is well signed and well maintained, easy to navigate. The second part, the Austrian Danube, begins in Passau and proceeds to Vienna. This section is very popular with riders of all ages as well as cruise boat passengers. It is exceedingly scenic. The road itself is flat, often downwind, with many facilities along the way. We allowed several extra days in Vienna for sightseeing, it's a fantastic city. The third part, from Vienna to Budapest, allowed us to visit Slovakia and Hungary. This section is more challenging for hills and traffic. We rented bicycles from three different companies, who also organized the hotels and transported luggage from one hotel to the next. In case of rain, the trains are very convenient and accept bicycles.

You can ride from Passau in Germany all the Way to Bratislava in Slovakia. You´ll pass the beautyful "Wachauvalley".
