“pricy but adequate for our needs”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

We chose this because of location as other reviewers have said.
We had a room overlooking the market, the room while small
was adequate for our needs.
We requested an extra chair and pillows, which were delivered promptly.
Proximity to excellent restaurants in the market was a bonus.
Breakfast was basic European fare.
On the downside there was no air conditioning,
.but having the windows open wasn't a problem.
Be aware in our room one side of the bed was against a wall.
The shower was extremely small, almost to the point
of being inaccessible.

Room Tip: You should check the shower size before you unpack

I am not a luxury traveler, I like nice, clean hotels, well located so I can walk to most places or easily get to the subway, train, etc... I enjoyed our time at this hotel. It is right next to a great market and you can walk to all the Vienna main sights within 10 minutes. Same thing to get to the Danube canal. Good, typical coffee houses nearby with Cafe Sperl and Cafe Drecher. Very tasty noodle place called Ramien also few minutes away if you like fresh homemade noodle bowls. Did I also mention this great little Italian gem called La Norma or this very friendly, unpretentious wine bar where you can throw peanuts on the floor (called Weiorgel)? All this to say, this hotel is in a great location so you can easily access all these places and more!

I'm very glad that I've chosen particularly this hotel for our 4 day trip to Vienna. The location is very good and comfortable: in front of Naschmarkt, not far from the Ring ans Secession, 10 minutes walk from Opera and Karlskirche , 5 minutes from Majolika house, 2 stations of underground nearby - Karlsplatz and Ketten Brucken Gasse (2 and 3 stations from City Airport Train terminal). It was our first visit to Vienna and we have fount the hotel easily.
Our flight arrived early in the morning so we reached the hotel much earlier than check-in time. But we were still given the number (for 4 persons instead of for 2), this was very comfortable for us because we didn't have to wait for several hours. During our stay personnel was very helpful and friendly which made our trip easier and more interesting. They provided us with all important information: how to get to destination, what are the working hours, when the performance starts, when we need to stand in the queue and even what is the weather forecast.
Breakfast could be more diversified in my opinion, but still it was not bad.
Safe and WiFi are free. Room was not equiped with hairdryer but we took it at the reception without any problems.
I think the price is good for this location (the hotels closer to center were much more expensive) and service.
I can recommend this hotel with pleasure.

When my husband & I go for a city trip, we don't need luxury. what we want is a nice, clean Hotel with a simple and good breakfast. Hotel Drei Kronen in Wien (Vienna) was all that and more.
The Hotel is in a very good location. The famous Nashmarkt is at your feet. In the same street (Schleifmuhlgasse) are a couple of very good Bars and Restaurants and a fantastic traditional Vienna Shop to by Coffee. They roast the coffee wright there and you can choose between different kind of varieties. From the Hotel 5 min. by feet to the next metro station.
The room are small but clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly.

We've stayed 4 nights in April. Actually, we based on the other reviews, and I'd like to thank everyone and the TripAdvisor team. Because of the previous review, we knew to take bath amenities with us (they have only standard built inn vessel with liquid soap), and consulting others we knew to write an E-mail to the Hotel and to ask a quite room ( to Schleifmuhlgasse str) .
So we had wonderful 4 nights in a quite comfortable room.
The stuff is nice ,polite and helpful.
The breakfast is really good, fresh vegetables and fruits ,even sparkling wine!
And location!!! We never used any public transport, only tourist ring tram just for fun.
Besides, the best Vienna market with all it's eateries is just outside.
We liked this hotel and definitely would stay there next time.

That's all there is to it... Very nice view from balcony and nice room. The last day we were allowed to stay for 2 additional hours due to late flight... All in all a nice stay. Will recommend young couples to take a look at this hotel

Good location: city center is just 6-7 minutes walking distance. Museum quarter and shopping area can be reach in 5-6 minutes. Karlsplatz Metro station is just 5 minutes away which has connection with Wien Mitte station and Airport trains. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Free city maps and other information are available at the reception. Budget-friendly hotel which is ok if you are not looking for a luxurious vacation. Acceptable service and facilities. Small size rooms, but very clean. Breakfast is good. Recommended for short-stay vacations.
