Really enjoyed our stay here. Design features are great, room really spacious & comfortable, service excellent, staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Location also good--easy walking distance to Hofbrrg & Albertina Museum.

Stayed in Rauthaus in August 2011. One of the best hotel experiences in Europe so far. The place is very comfortable, well-located, has atmosphere and lives up to the title of boutique hotel.
Location
Small quiet street. 10 minutes walk to the center and main sights (20 leisurely minutes to both Stephandom and Naschmarkt. 10 mins to Museum Quartier). 5 minutes walk from U-Bahn, central station with good connections to all lines. In case you feel like having dinner closer to hotel and out of the very center there are several nice restaurants in 5-10 minutes walking range and nice bars in the Museum Quartier. In summer location is perfect and a nice walk from Central Vienna. In winter you might want to take U-Bahn in case it is cold. If you take the fast train from the airport and have some luggage might get a bit cumbersome as you will need to change line once and walk from U-Bahn uphill. Taxi is more convenient choice to get from airport to hotel.
There is elevator which comes in handy. You have several steps to take before reception and elevator, but there is a bell at the beginning of this short flight of stairs to call for help with your luggage.
There is small courtyard garden with 3-4 tables where it is nice to have a glass of wine and breakfast.
Room
Our room was very big (number 405). We had three windows overlooking the quiet street with a nice view of the city over the rooftops. You can see Stephansdom spires. There seem to be some rooms that would overlook a wall next to them – judging by the view from inner yard. If possible ask for a room on higher floors on the street side.
Room is very functional, modernly designed. Full of light, light floors in the room contrasting to dark wood color in the shower and sink area. Big sink. A lot of shelves around the sink to keep your toiletries. Walk-in shower with rainforest overhead shower and side-massage shower. Again – big shelf in the shower for shampoo and such (which was nice as most of the time I have to keep my somewhat numerous shower items on the floor). Everything is well adjusted and working. For example, water from the shower was never outside the door, which happens often. Water pressure and temperature were good. True, the door is transparent glass, which adds to the lightness of the room and its mood. Might present some challenges in taking shower depending on who you travel with. Very comfortable bed. Air conditioning well-adjusted, the room stayed cool even when it got hot but not too cold.
All areas of the room were very clean, as were sheets, towels, bathrobes. Towels are new, fluffy and big – a treat after the shower. All towels (small and big) come in two colors – dark brown and creamy, which is excellent idea to distinguish which is who’s. Also this was the first time when I was not asked to preserve nature by reusing my towel or putting it on the floor to be changed – exercise that I find useless as quite often towels get changed even when left hanging or in worst-case scenario are left lying on the floor not changed. In Rauthaus we simply got more towels in neat pile under the sink in case we needed them, which was excellent way of letting us have the choice at our own comfort and save nature.
Hotel is very quiet, we could not hear our neighbors or any sounds from the corridor. Even elevator is so quiet that you can hardly hear it when standing next to it.
TV in the room featured decent choice of channels in German, English, French, Spanish, Russian and more. Wi-fi was available for free but did not work from our room, we had good reception in the lobby and in the bar though.
Food
Breakfast is not included in the price, charge is 17 EUR. I would recommend it if you are on holiday with time to spend leisurely hour sampling local cheeses and hams, olives, staffed pickled vegetables, pates and much more. There is abundant choice of cereals, excellent bread and irresistible variety of homemade cakes. Omelets and eggs made to order. Good opportunity to try a lot of local products that you will later see in Naschmarkt. If you just need your morning fix of cereals or cake with coffee go for smaller breakfast option as the full breakfast is more about choice and sampling.
There is a choice of sandwiches, cheeses and snacks for room-service or eating in the bar, no hot food.
Wine
The hotel positions wine as its main theme, which certainly is present in design and small details, that add to the mood of the place. Each room is named after an Austrian winemaker, mini-bar is stocked with wines from that vineyard and there is a set of glasses of all possible shapes to match different wines next to mini-bar. Instead of the bell at reception they feature bottle of wine with a spoon to cling on it if you need service. Empty bottles of wine line the staircase. And some tables in the garden yard are wine barrels.
I would say the hotel needs to be more pronounced on promoting their wines and sampling. On the site there is a mention of wine tastings, but when in the hotel there is no mention of it. Wine is served in the bar starting from 4 pm. When we came, we were offered short menu, listing two or three white wines, a brut and couple of reds. There was a mention that they have further 350 wines to sample. However the bartender never offered any advice on what we could choose and did not seem to know about wines. He was very friendly and responsive. However I would definitely expect someone in such a place to help discover local wines and with passion for them. And promote them.
Service
All staff are very friendly and accommodating and speak excellent English. Fast to respond to all requests like ordering taxi, getting tickets for the metro, restaurant recommendation and the like. Recommendations for the places to eat were excellent (Kristian's Monastiri and Il Sestante).
Also I wanted to make a small surprise for our arrival, and Conrad could not have been more helpful in organizing it, we communicated over mail. On our arrival we had excellent bottle of perfectly cold Riesling along with grapes and wine glasses waiting for us in the cellar. The map with directions to small Italian-style piazza nearby was attached, complete with a ribbon around it – every small detail was taken care of which set our mood just right for the wonderful summer weekend! And yes, Conrad has passion for the wine and told us about the vinery, the year and the bottle which added more to the feeling of a special occasion and gave taste to want discover more.

The only drawback which was present (and I am starting to get used to this when in Europe) was two mattress on king-size bed instead of one big one, which creates a hole in-between the two. And something to ask for is kettle and some tea/coffee for safe-catering in the room.

Overall it is comfortable and functional hotel which really makes a difference.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the street and on top floors (3rd-4th floor).

This was a great hotel. Three of us shared a room which was spacious & very comfortable. The wetroom style shower was a plus. Conrad & Clemens recommended fantastic austrian (not too expensive) wines for us each night & gave us great insights into life in Vienna and Austria. We skipped the breakfast at €17 each as there were plenty of local cafes to choose from instead.

Me and my wife stayed in this beautiful and very cozy Hotel for a week. The idea was to get to know Vienna, but we found a lot more: A place to feel like home, even if you are not at home.
The staff was very attentive, friendly and keen to fulfill all your wishes from the moment that we entered the house. Our room was, apart from being clean and calm, beautifully decorated. We loved the huge bed, the shower and the open design of the room in general.
The breakfast was amazing and we used the whole week trying different kinds of austrian honey, mustard, cheese, meat, home-made jam, bread, cake and other local, gastronomic specialities.
We got a lot of good advises concerning good austrian restaurants, bars, museums, sights and shopping. The Hotel is located close to the city hall, many sights, restaurants and bars are within walking-distance and connection to public transport is very good. And in the evenings, we relished the idea of trying a lot of wines at the well sorted bar and thereby learned a bit more about wine in general and about Austria.

All in all: A carefree-package in the middle of one the most beautiful cities in Europe for an affordable price. We will come back!!

We had a lovely two night stay in a quite large hotel room. Loved that each room had the name of a wine maker. Sampled the wines and they were very good. The reception staff were very polite and helpful. They made our stay a a real joy. The hotel is well located within easy walking distance of the main sights and public transport. Reception booked transport to the airport and the driver was very professional. Also, booked for us the restaurant nearby Kristian Monastery which was excellent. In all, a fabulous stay in a beautiful city.

We stayed at Rathaus Wein & Design just for 3 days on the occasion of the Bon Jovi concert. The quarter is calm and silent, the hotel is easy to find following the instructions on the site. Reception - excellent service, even deposit-free umbrellas to save you from the heavy rain:) The room (306) was spacious and clean, well furnished and the bed was very confy. The breakfast was more than profuse. Last but not least the personnel - smiling, helpful and very kind - they always gave us good directions when needed! Could not ask for more and though the weather was more like autumn the great service and attention to the smallest detail really contributed a lot to our overall impression from the stay. Definitely recommend the holet and Vienna for a family trip - great choice for a trip with children because the city is a great place for family vacations combined with sightseeing. The zoo is a must see as well as the Treasury.
