Its so so slow because it stops so long to load those who booked dinners in the carriage. Aerial views of Vienna from the ferris wheel is unspectacular. You don't see any beautiful light up buildings or any memorable landscape. We went just because we had the time and its free with the Vienna Pass. Not worth the time and trip.

10 euro per person to go up for a 10 minute ride. This was a must do on our list but wasn’t that great - if you’ve been on the London Eye skip this. It is a large ferris wheel with enclosed compartments that holds about 15 people in each compartment. It goes slowly around once stopping to let you see the view and take photos. They have a dining car where you can pay to have a champagne trip or a dinner for 350 euro for two for a 3 course meal so I guess you get 3 rounds because every time you come back down, you get the next course. Bathrooms are available before you board the wheel and of course photos to purchase are taken as you are in line with the green screen ferris wheel.

Great way to get an idea of the layout of the city. Like many things in Vienna it was cash only. Fairly affordable compared with the Ferris wheels in say Paris or Niagara Falls. We didn't eat at the restaurant.

We stopped in for a break during a long walk around the city. We only had time and desire for a bit of refreshment before we continued on.

Good beer, good hot chocolate and good a slice of chocolate cake (forget the German name for it!). It was good...that’s it.

Clean, fast and friendly.

The Wiener Riesenrad is one of the city’s highlights. It can be very busy in the last week of the year. One ride costs € 10 for 10-20 minutes. Staff is very rude and you have to pay cash (very strange an attraction like this doesn’t accept cards) so be prepared. Once inside a gondola it gives you the feeling of a ‘moving Eiffeltower’ because of the similar construction. The view is very nice.
