Neighbourhood: Old University Quarter
Description: Cafe Diglas, one of the classic traditional Viennese coffee houses in a very central location. Open 365 days a year for its guests, 8 clock early to 22:30. Here you can start your day with a wonderful selection of breakfast offerings, reading newspaper croissants, enjoying fresh out of the oven. And at noon we will drive with 5 different, again created daily menus. We inspire hearty Viennese cuisine with new variations. For dessert, there's then, as befits a true pastry Temple, the famous stake. But apricot dumplings and plum dumplings, each have a seasonal permanent place on our map. The snack is a separate issue, take one look at the display case filled with all the delicacies that are baked fresh every day her grandmother's recipes. The real Diglas guest know that you should not be late, because at delivery the souffles are lukewarm and not yet eaten the coveted banana slices. At 19 h leads the pianist the evening. We show you how you can end the stressful city life gently with a glass of wine. A fluffy pancake-Diglas

“Rude service”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

We stopped in desert and coffee after strolling around the sight all afternoon. The cakes were nice, nothing special. The service however was very poor, very rude especially the young woman behind the cake selection area.

“nice random stop”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We were walking from the MAK(Museum of Applied Arts) to St Stephen's Square and just happened to be going by Dilgas when a rain shower encouraged us to take shelter. We had a nice coffee, beer, and apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Waiter was prompt and courteous, and the inside of the cafe, lovely.

“Diglas - good to experience but not a regular haunt.”
Reviewed 24 July 2014 via mobile

I am never sure about the famous cafés of Vienna, especially Diglas. Undoubtedly a great experience once or twice but they feel more and more like tourist traps. Good coffee, super cakes & confections but superior and brusque staff don't produce the refined welcome you expect. Certainly somewhere to go and enjoy but a regular experience - I think not.

“Viennese Coffee House with delicious food”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

We chose this cafe based on the recommendation of our B & B owner & were glad we visited! The day we ate here, it was quite hot, so sitting outside was perfect! I had salmon & thought it was absolutely delicious! The pastries were amazing as well! The only negative, in my opinion, was being charged extra for the bread, which was brought to our table. Only afterwards did we realize we were charged, as the waiter counted to number of rolls we ate!
