“Marriott Mom's Tips”

Being a business hotel in Vienna, this Ritz offered excellent weekend specials---ours was stay 3 nights, pay for only 2. Many of the Ritz/Marriott properties do the same in their city-center locations. Be sure to look for them!

Always book the Club Level!! Your single best investment and well worth every penny. For an extra $100/night, we had the sweetest Club Manager, Lutzie, taking care of every detail of our visit. We called ahead to tell them about my daughter's Celiac Disease and Lutzie made sure the chef had gluten free pancakes for her every morning and gluten free bread with every meal. They even arranged a surprise birthday cake for me on the last night of our visit!

Excellent, on-point service from check-in through check-out. In our experience, the more we stay at Ritz properties, the more we have been receiving awesome perks. I know they keep a detailed history of your visits and really reward you for your loyalty with excellent room upgrades. Our upgrade included a 2 room, 2 bath suite!

Be sure to ask for complimentary children's amenities.....bath robes and slippers......fun bubble bath kits, including Ritz rubber duckies and animal bath mitts, perfect for the ginormous bath tub that my children swam in every night!

Stop by the concierge for the educational and fun kid's scavenger hunt. They will learn a little something about both the history of the hotel and the beautiful city of Vienna. Pack the kid's swimsuits---the indoor pool has underwater music and lights! The staff provides swim jackets and pool toys for the little ones.

For a business hotel at heart, this Ritz property gets 5 stars for it's outstanding, family-oriented staff!

I loved this hotel! The staff is amazing (especially the front desk staff, namely Kim - as well as the bell staff), they were so friendly and accommodating, as if I had been to the hotel 100 times before. Lobby is beautiful and the lobby bar very comfortable. There is a free business center to check email which is a great amenity. The rooms are gorgeous - huge bathrooms with stall showers and great ventilation. Everything in the room is very modern and sleek. The breakfast buffet was great too. For those reviewers here on Trip Advisor who complain about the guestroom air conditioning, I understand what they were saying but the hotel room windows open which was an easy solution. For those reviewers who complained about the odd layout of the corridors, stairs, etc...we did have to climb some odd stairs to get to our room but this very minor issue is tolerable based on all of the other hotel positives.

Regarding location, the hotel is in the main avenue just a short walk to the Opera House and main city center - easily walkable.

This is a great hotel and we didn't want to leave!

Room Tip: If you have trouble walking, I would suggest asking for a room close to the elevator so that you don...

We spend weekend invited for wedding party 14 - 15th December '13. What a nice time! Perfect service did not give a chance to forget we were staying in luxury hotel. Especially to mention the Concierge Simon ("Golden keys" sign). He managed to exceed our expectations every time we referred to him. Thank you! Now I understand - nothing is impossible in Ritz.

The Ritz-Carlton in Vienna is more modern in interior décor than other Vienna luxury hotels.
Our suite was very spacious, handsome wood décor, floor to ceiling marble bath - terrific shower stall, double sinks, bath tub, separate water closet and bidet. High end towels and bath products.

The morning breakfast was ideal, but please note it was included in our room rate.
The hotel restaurant was very good in both cuisine and service.
As non-smokers we didn't avail ourselves of the bar, as it allows smoking. From what I could determine, all "cocktail bars" in Vienna allow smoking.

It's location on the ring, I found, to be ideal, in the fact that I always found my way back without becoming lost. It is a good 15 minute walk to St Stephen's, good time to take in the beautiful street scapes - buildings and retail windows.

Most of all the staff made our stay very enjoyable. We would definitely return to this property and highly recommend it.

Stepping into the Ritz we were greeting by the wonderful staff, gorgeous room(beds like clouds - best sleep ever) and spa. Not as close to main attractions as we would've liked - approx. a 15-20min walk. Very close to Opera House, Food Market and another Classical music venue (not sure of the name). Also very close to our favorite Christmas market - Karlsplatz - full of incredible German artists. Didn't get the best advise from some of the staff in regard to coffee shops, eats... (do your homework before going) Only one of the concierges gave us great tips and noted them on a city map. Noticed the taxi bell man got us for our ride to airport was a lot more expensive then one we took to hotel from airport (?). Can't go wrong with the Ritz - only reason I did not give it 5 stars is location could've been better - closer to Winter Palace.

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Vienna at the New Year. We have stayed at other city centre hotels in Vienna on previous visits. Ritz Carlton exceeded all expectations. The bedroom was well appointed. The staff extremely friendly and helpful. The Atmosphere Rooftop bar an ideal location to see in the New Year.

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Vienna for 4 nights just before Christmas.

Let me provide a little bit of context before going into specifics. This was our second trip to Vienna. For our first we stayed at the Sacher. It was amazingly located and we were upgraded into an amazing room, but we didn’t love the hotel itself (no great restaurant or bar area to hang out in, at least not that we felt comfortable in). So on to the Ritz. . .

Location:
The hotel is well located within easy walking distance to most sights. After our prior visit, we felt like the Ritz was a tiny bit less centrally located, but we are talking about a 5-10 minute walk so no real hardship.

Pre-Arrival:
Prior to arrival, I requested help from the Concierge with spa appointments and tickets to the Nutcracker. Both were handled quickly and we had amazing seats! Definitely take advantage of this resource.

The Hotel:
The hotel is quite modern. There is a lounge area in the main lobby where afternoon tea is served. The bar and restaurant are down the hall a bit. Presumably because it is in an older building, the layout is a bit funky. We felt lost each time we tried to find our room. Even within a given floor there are different levels with internal stairs. I felt like I was in a maze at times and never got the hang of exactly where my room was or the best way to get there.

The Room:
We were in a Junior Suite and liked having the extra space. The room was on an internal courtyard and was very quiet which I loved. I also loved that the room included not only coffee and tea pots but an iron and ironing board – the first I think I have seen in a hotel in Europe.
The Junior Suite consisted of a sitting area with a small sectional couch. Cabinetry housed the closet and separated the areas a bit. There was also a King bed (very comfy, we particularly liked that they include a top sheet which some hotels in Europe do not), desk, etc.

The bath was very nice though I would have preferred a double sink. There was a separate tub and shower. I still miss the shower head. The handheld had the best water pressure (a pet peeve of mine in hotels).

My only complaint about the room (which I complain about in pretty much every hotel) is that the thermostat didn’t seem to do anything and we could not get the room as cool as we wanted at night. But thanks to the quiet courtyard we simply opened a window.

Facilities:
As I indicated, we took advantage of the spa. We had 80 minute massages and very much enjoyed them, especially after all of the walking in the cold. The spa is down with the fitness area and pool, both of which looked very nice.

We did try their afternoon tea and enjoyed that was well. We did not try the restaurant but visited the bar a couple of evenings.

We had Club Access which we love. We took full advantage of it and highly recommend it. We had breakfast there each day and found it to be more than adequate. The staff was always eager to help and extremely nice.

In short, I definitely recommend the Ritz Carlton Vienna. It is much more modern than what I saw in many other hotels in Vienna. My only slight negative comment is that it seemed a bit generic. But it was definitely a great stay and I would consider the hotel if we return to Vienna.
