Directly on the Ring and just a short walk away from the Stephans Dom, this hotel is ideal for a nice city trip with great rooms. The bars are a great plus, especially the roof top bar is an absolut must on a summer evening. Another treat is the chocolat sommelier, something I have never seen before. I trully enjoyed the historical atmosphere inside this palais.

We stayed at The Ritz Carlton for 5 nights to celebrate our second anniversary. The service was fantastic. Unfortunately I injured my back on the first evening and the staff went out to find a pharmacy for me on a Sunday evening, effortless. The staff in the bar were great, Pablo in the lounge kept us topped up and was a really friendly man; Simon the concierge and the team were always there to help and the spa staff did a fabulous job.. Our suite was excellent. A perfect break.

Room Tip: We chose a room inside the hotel rather than at the front. The hotel is floodlit from the front alt...

Having stayed at many Ritz Carlton's (RC) around the world, I’ve come to know and expect above average facilities and consistently high quality customer care from arrival to departure and this “new” RC fell short of those expectations.

The hotel is well situated for city touring and the building, though very unique and questionable in design, provides the standard compliment of lodging, dining and recreational activities. As other reviewers have noted, for a relatively new property the lobby looks dated and the flowers in the area were in desperate need of attention (photo attached). Also, the circuitous path from the front desk to the elevators is unfortunate, but those are minor idiosyncrasies. What was of genuine concern however was the arrogant and dismissive demeanor of the front desk representative who “welcomed” my wife and I upon arrival. He clearly did not appreciate our having interrupted his conversion with a colleague, was annoyed at a brief delay while we retrieved our ID’s, and could not have been less engaging. It set the tone for our stay.

The young bellman who escorted us to our suite was pleasant; however, I did not need to know which professional sports personality was the preceding guest in our suite. That’s too much information, thank you. Also, the bellman was unable to cancel the RC infomercial and loud “muzak” coming from the two TV’s when we entered the suite, so we needed to wait for a technician to arrive to adjust the system. While waiting, the bellman commented that the TV’s were ongoing issues throughout the hotel. He also advised that the TV’s embedded in the bathroom mirrors of each guestroom were not working despite the remote control for that unit being prominently displayed on the vanity.

Also, the heated floors in the well-equipped bathroom were a welcome comfort upon our arrival; however, there appeared to be no way for guests to control the temperature of the floors, resulting in the need to use bath towels to cover standing areas the next morning due to the very high temperature of the tiled floor.

Prior to our arrival, my wife had contacted hotel management to request assistance in making a dinner reservation in the area. Knowing that there are a number of local restaurants with similar names, my wife sent an email specifying exactly which restaurant she desired, to include the building name and address. She also confirmed the reservation with a guest services representative upon check-in. Nonetheless, there was no reservation in our name upon arrival at the restaurant. Subsequent discussions with RC management revealed that the reservation had been mishandled by hotel staff and we were offered a bottle of wine as an apology.

Upon check-out, a front desk representative inquired about our stay. I briefly shared both the positive aspects of my visit and the areas of concern. The front desk rep acknowledged my concerns and said: “We know, but we’re trying hard to improve.” Inoperative TV’s and wilted flowers can be refreshed, as should staff with insufficient training, but front desk staff with bad attitudes should be shown the door. We will sample some of Vienna’s other hotel offerings on our next visit.

A classic luxury hotel, that gets it right from the moment you arrive. Friendly, welcoming reception. Well appointed rooms. Would have been nice to have a biscuit next to the tea and coffee facilities. Usual comforts you would expect but the shower is worth an especial mention. The spa was great, especially the swimming pool. Good sauna and steam room. Sauna and steam room are gender-specific, so if you want to relax with a partner the only option would be within the spa at an additional charge. Excellent breakfast buffet with friendly but slightly over stretched staff. Terrific concierge service. I had an inclusive intent rate but otherwise the charge for Internet access is definitely on the high side. Overpriced minibar. Elegantly laid out, though not the grandest of grand architecture. Overall a wonderful experience and well worth the price, so long as you don't use the minibar.

Room Tip: Courtyard view is very dull.

We spent 3 nights at the hotel and found the experience excellent. The rooms are large, modern and well equipped. The beds are the most comfortable that we have ever slept in and make for a luxurious nights sleep. The hotel is in a very good location with easy access to the centre of Vienna. We would stay at this hotel on our next visit to Vienna.

We booked the Ritz Carlton through Kayak.com and managed to save a huge amount on the normal room rate (60%+).
The hotel is beautiful, immaculate and everything you would expect from a hotel of this rating.
Rooms huge, warm and luxurious.
The staff were amazing and could not do enough for you, very attentive and very friendly.
Food in the Dstrikt restaurant was amazing as was the wine recommendation we were given.
Best hotel hands down we have ever stayed in.
Would we stay again? Yes definitely.. once we have recovered from the cost of Vienna .. an expensive place to visit .. but worth the once in a while trip .. .

Room Tip: 4th Floor for Deluxe rooms. 404 was great
