“Fab location, but the organisation of the pension had a strange set-up”
Reviewed 28 March 2012

Read all the reviews carefully before booking this hotel, asked in advance, as advised, NOT to have a room near the reception but a quieter room, as this hotel is on a busy main street. I called twice and emailed to check that they could organise this and was assured 'over the phone' that it was no issue. We arrived and first impressions were somewhat 'what have I done'. The entrance was into a grey old hallway that led to a series of apartments/offices etc. On the first floor we can to the pension that looked a lot better. The first surprise is that the reception/lobby and the dining room are all one room. The majority of the rooms around circling the reception so hard to avoid.
We are shown to our room and you guessed right it was not a quiet room, in the end we stayed put and as were were exhausted each day we slept like babies. Brekkie was adequate, the place was clean, so if you do not have high expectations then this is a perfectly acceptable place to stay...The morning we left to go to the airport they gave us a packed breakfast at 6.45 am...now that was nice and not sure a 5* would accommodate you like that!!

Room Tip: absolutely ask for a room as far away as possible from the lobby/reception...the beds are twin fyi

Very clean hotel.
The breakfast was good and more than enough, for me and my family ( 2 big kids and wife).
Excellent place, for shopping or sightseeing, garage provided by hotel at specia price.
pleasant and helpful staff.

The location is very convenient, in the middle of a diverse shopping area, with a subway stop right in front. Some rooms face the street and are quite noisy, especially after midnight (several bars nearby). Other rooms have only a window onto a dark air shaft, and are write dismal but quiet.

All rooms are next to the lobby, so if you want to sleep in you may be disturbed by the breakfast noise.

The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was average, with bread, meat, cheese, jam but no fruit.

Staff was friendly and spoke adequate english.

For the price I paid I would expect a little more. Would look elsewhere on a return trip.

Just back from a stay at this hotel. We were very happy with our stay. I requested a quiet room and we got this. Rooms are fine, clean and warm. Location of hotel is excellent right beside the shops and the historical quarter.
Breakfast was good and if you sat around long enough they brought you more coffee tea, continental meats etc.
Only one hitch, breakfast is until ten and me and hub arrived out each morning at five to ten we were looked at like bold children, I'm Irish and in my book if breakfast is at ten and if you arrive out at five to then thats early!!!

It is a really nice Pension, friendly, helpful staff, good and very clean (small) single room, but with all you need for a pleasant stay. I would certainly return and would recommend to my friends. It's 10 minutes walk to many of the main visitor sights, the underground is outside the front door, shops, restaurants are nearby - what's not to like? I got what I paid for.

Cosy hotel. Staff very kindly. Rooms average in size. Old-fashioned furnishing. But sufficient. Price corresponding to location and quality of accommodation. Breakfast continental. The hotel is located ten minutes walk from the historical centre of Vienna on Mariahilferstrasse - it is the main disadvantage of the hotel - most of its rooms are located towards the street (the building is in Art Nouveau Style) - the windows are wooden - so they do not soften the noise from the outside at all.

Very friendly and homely pension right on one of Viennas main streets. Rooms are clean and OK, but appears a bit run down and very old furniture. Beds in some rooms are a major problem, particularly for people above 175 cm, I changed room and got a slightly better bed. Sound proofing is certainly insufficient, but guests were peaceful so no problem.

Very friendly service. Breakfast continental style was acceptable at this price level.
