Have visited the area of the Kahlenberg at different times of the year. It was most picturesque on a snowy afternoon when the Weingut Cobenzl had a Christmas market on the roadway in front of their inn. I would recommend a meal or snack in their hostelry - or Heurige - as the food is absolutely delicious and not expensive. If your visit is in late summer or autumn, then try their local Sturm wine, which is wine which is still in the fermentation process, and can only be had near a vineyard.
We always finish our journey by walking down through the vineyards back into Grinzing. It is a wonderful day spent in the Vienna Woods!
