“Pricey but interesting for kids”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

5 Euros entrance fee with Vienna card is still pricey for place that's so small.
My 8 year old liked it,though and enjoyed the bridge walkway, steps in the tree trunk and observing butterflies eating fruit on plates.
The place really is too hot, especially during hot summer days. It was nice 1/2 H but the staff did looked pretty bored.
The building is an interesting architecture and houses also cafe with an outdoor seating area.

“Waste of time and money”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

This butterfly house should have been great, but it wasn't.

I don't mind that it is quite small or that it is humid and hot (I guess butterflies need that sort of environment) - jungle style.

The staff was extremely bored and didn't put much effort into making the visitors feel welcome.

I felt really sorry to see so many butterflies with broken or ripped wings, clearly people (probably children) were chasing and holding them, which should not be encouraged, but the staff doesn't seem to care.

Even though the place is small, there weren't that many butterflies at all. And not much variety! There was one of those giant moths, but it was resting really high up near the ceiling.

The small souvenir store is full of "made in china" butterfly junk and nothing original can be found.

A really disappointing visit. I suggest you spend your time and money elsewhere. This isn't quite worth it.

“Too hot and lack of butterflies”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Several years ago I've been in butterfly garden in Kuala Lumpur and I still miss this experience, so every time when I have an opportunity to visit that kind of place I try to do that. But Vienna's Butterfly was a bitterly dissapointing. First of all, there are no freeranged butterflies as I imagined. I thought that it's a garden with a net, as in KL, but it was just small glass-greenhouse. There were just few kinds of butterflies, some of flowers were plastic - they add honey to feed and call butterflies. And it was very hot, as it could be in a greenhouse during the summer. Comparing to my expectations it wasn't worth a visit.

“A Short Visit”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Entrance fee (EUR 6) is a bit too much. There is not much to see. There are some butterflies fly around. We expected to see more butterflies.
