“Lovely Westbahnhof (visited in Feb 2010)”
Reviewed 9 June 2012 via mobile

I wasn't sure what to expect from this hotel as there were mixed reviews...but upon arrival and first inspection my girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised. I've read that some people didn't get rooms in the refurbished areas but if that was the case we got lucky as our room was amazing. It was lovely and clean, well sized, very comfy and everything I'd expect from a 4 star hotel. Usually European hotels are a class below the UK ones (4 stars are usually 3 stars etc..) but with this we found it to be exactly what it was rated :)

Best thing about the room for us were the mood lights which changed colour behind the bed and the all-round glass shower in the middle of the room!!! Novelty things I know but this was half the reason I booked the room in the first place - great for a romantic getaway! It really topped off what was already a lovely room.

Location wise, when we were making our way to the hotel on the first day, in the snow, it seemed like it was a bit of a slog from the station and a bit hard to find. However, after the first evening and next day, it was actually close to the subway and easy to get to once you knew where you we going!

The breakfast in the hotel was also great. There was a lot of selection of meats, cereals, breads, teas, juices and everything else you wanted....it really made our morning something to look forward to and made the start of the days ahead great! The hotel staff we did talk to were pleasant and overall it was a great place to stay. We would definitely go back.

One final comment is, Vienna is a lovely place. Much like Rome but a little more spaced out. We visited when it was snow covered and it really made the experience that little more authentic! Also, make sure at some point you visit the ice rink which is like a winding path, near the government buildings...it looks lovely and in the middle of it there are stalls that sell you hot bratwurst in baguettes - they cut the top off, drill out the centre of the baguette, put the bratwurst in and fill it with ketchup...!! It was AMAZING!!! Worth the visit alone ;) Enjoy Vienna and enjoy the Hotel Wien-Westbanhof! :)

My wife and I stayed here in mid March 2012 and it was perfect for what we needed. She took the train to Westbahnhof and I was flying to meet her so she had to walk from the station alone. Maybe a five minute walk that was very safe and easy. Close to the underground as well so easy to get anywhere in the city. Walked the friendly neighborhood Sunday morning and found a nice Catholic church for mass. Buffet breakfast is outstanding and the bar staff even made a hot chocolate for my wife! Front desk staff was very friendly and accomodating, and helped with the free internet. The only drawback was that the bed was a little too hard for our liking, but for one night it was perfect.

Have picked this hotel due to good reviews from other guests and its perfect location.
Very easy and close access to Vienna transportation facilities, shopping areas or Wiener Stadthalle if there is scheduled any concert. In my case I had the privilege of viewing Andre Rieu live, a wonderful show.
In this hotel you will find a friendly staff from the reception up to housekeeping.
Room was big enough, clean and the glass shower booth in the middle.
First time I see this arrangement and have to say it that I enjoyed.
Beds are comfortable except the pillows that are too slim.
There is place for improvement on the TV channels as only two are in English.
There is not any music channel, sport or Discovery-Nat Geo-Animal Planet etc.
Breakfast is excellent and can satisfy any taste.
The elevator is wisely placed so will not disturb the guests during night.
Good phonic insulation of the rooms.

Room Tip: Last floor rooms are hotter due to the roof covered in steel sheets.

Very good hotel with pleasant spaces. The rooms are comfy with all amenities and the design and slightly edgy. Despite staying with a friend, we found the indoor shower was a cool feature.
Location wise, Fleming's is also a good choice. 5 min walk to the airport bus and a few minutes to Maria-Hilfe str. If you feel like walking, the historical centre is in withing easy reach and you get to discover interesting Vienna spots or otherwise the subway station is across the hotel.
Highly reccommended!

We stayed at this hotel during our visit to Vienna in December 2011. The location is quite good, with direct access to the main commercial street of the city (Mariahilferstraße) and the Westbahnhof Train/Bus/Metro station. The room was comfortable enough, however its value and four-star category did not match its price (e.g. no sleepers or bathrobe provided). What is worth mentioning is that the room was clean though.

Regarding the breakfast, this is certainly something that needs improvement as it does not offer many choices, especially concerning the hot dishes of the buffet.

Last but not least, although we had reserved a double bed superior room, we ended up having a twin-bed room with the hotel receptionist apologizing to us through a bottle of wine.

the hotel is located nearly westbahnhof so the shopping area is not far away and a couple of casinos or shady bars.

the best way from the airport is the airport bus to westbahnhof

the rooms are nice, especially the suites on the 7 th floor.
tv is not a flatscreen but paytv and wifi are available for extra charge

the showers are in the middle of the room, so keep that in mind if sharing a room with a friend or colleague or someone whom you dont want to see naked. last tiime the room was quite, but some rooms are noisy that are located on the main road.

the bar is nice with a good variety of wines from Austria. the prices are a bit high as always in a business hotel. My schnitzel was okay (in vienna you can get better and larger (and worse) ones). the burger of a friend was not eatable " just a chunk of meat". but they tried to apologize and brought dessert.

breakfast variety is okay for a 4 star hotel, except the waiters are so busy running around cleaning tables. they did not bother at all what we want to drink. we had to stand up and catch them to ask for a coffee. self- service filter coffee in the corner (where the hot water for tee was ) was terrible. the coffee issue at breakfast and the hectic in the morning is the most annoying part in the hotel.

Room Tip: rooms in the higher floors, >*20 avoid rooms to the main road

A very professionally run hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff. The room was spotless, and the shower provided some entertainment!

The restaurant is very good, and the breakfast was great, got us going for the rest of the day.
The location is not particularly attractive, but the hotel is very convenient for access by public transport to all parts of Vienna
