We stopped by Trzesniewski for an afternoon snack. We tried some of their tapas. They are good but of course not comparable to Spanish tapas. However the products are very cheap so this is a good option to assuage you hunger before dinner. My favorite is the one with crab and hot tomato sauce.

These tiny open-faced sandwiches come in a variety of yummy flavours. We liked it so much we went to the location inside Westbahnhof the next day to have some more. Love the standing tables outside to enjoy some sun. The tomato and the herring were my favourites.

A vienna classic. It is one of the last institution in Vienna. Eating at Trzesniewski and a biff with it. You can choose between 20 different sorts of pastes. Starting with classics like egg and egg , shrimps , followed by new creations like wild paprika. All pastes are served on good brown bread.
You have to drink a small beer with it, calles Biff (around 0.25 Litre)
All different pastes tastes Delicious and it is hard to guess the ingredients, mostly egg I assume. For me it is one thing I've never found somewhere else and it is so unique for Vienna.

Whenever in Vienna in the city center near St Stephens -and if you are hungry but don't want to loose to much time this is the place to visit.
Pieces of dark bread covered in many variations with the unique spreads - refined over many decades (true !)- plus small glasses of whichever beverages you want - are the ultimate quick lunch
