“Great hotel as a base!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014 via mobile

Spent 4 nights in this slightly out of the way hotel but it was worth it for the room, breakfast, and lovely service from Margot!

We were on the 5th floor and the room was quiet, large and had seperate bath/shower from the toilet.
Breakfast was satisfying, good continental choice but the eggs, sausage and bacon only luke warm! Had a couple of drinks in the bar, no atmosphere but Margot made up for it, great chat!

This was our 3rd stop on our 2 week European vacation. The hotel was nice, our room was very good as was the continental breakfast. It was however, a little far from everything. We did travel by Subway, line U2 is about 15 minutes away. Our room was very nice and the breakfast was very good.

We stayed in this hotel just for one night, but it was very good stay. The hotel is located in quiet street, however very near to the city center. There is wonderful view from the roof (you can see the whole Vienna) and very good parking possibility.
The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is very good too- there is a wide selection of youghurts, cereals, eggs, ham and cheese and breds.
The negative is the the unfriendly staff on the reception, which is definitely not "happy to see you".

My wife and I stayed at the Strudlhof Hotel & Palais for 4 nights (May 17-21, 2013) on our visit to Vienna. The hotel is excellent; it is located in a good part of the city, about a 5 minute walk to a major metro station and about 2 minute from a bus stop. The breakfast is spectacular, a wonderful spread; the rooms are clean and spacious; I think it is a great bang for your buck.
The staff was friendly and helpful. We had some questions about our travels and what to do or not do; Margo and Anna Maria were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Majority of the staff is bilingual, no matter what language you speak they seem to be able to accommodate. I like to try and hit on all areas, even if there is a drawback, however I really can’t think of any negative experiences with this hotel. GREAT STAY!!!

I've spent 5 days in this hotel on a business trip. I had a room on the 4th floor (room 404) and it happened to be extremely quiet. Rooms are sound proof, as I really slept very well every night. the room temperature was a bit too warm, and u couldn't regulate it nor keep the window open as the flags of the hotel are just placed under the windows of that floor, therefore it would have been too noisy given the windy weather conditions.
Rooms are also very large, the WC is separated from the bathroom, which has a big tub.
My materass was of good quality. the only remark is that despite being a 4 stars hotel there is no kettle in the room nor no room service. I got a very bad cold once I got to Vienna therefore I had to go downstairs to the bar to have a warm camomille every night. there the staff was very friendly, especially Martin, who was really helpfull and kind. Thank you Marti!!!
Another little remark is that if you wanna use the sauna and hammam, u have to tell them in advance so they will open the room for you, otherwise it is closed. so, no last minute decisions!!!

For the rest, the location of the hotel is quite good: if u fancy a walk, it's 25 mins to the cathedral, otherwise u can get the tram D which will take u in 5 mins to the Rathouse. Always down the road from the hotel, there are several bars and restos, an hairdresser, and a good size supermarket SPAR open until 8pm.
The area is really quiet and safe. I also went a couple of times to a lovely tea room called Naschsalon, jsut few minutes walk from the hotel, as they have delicious homemade cackes and food! plus the staff was extremely nice. to be recommended!!!

Room Tip: rooms on the 4th floor have the noisy flags underneath, so I would suggest to have a room on upper f...

I enjoyed the comfort and a very good breakfast buffet.

Excellent staff, very helpful, and polite.

The atmosphere is nice to the bar/bistro too, but it's a pity that the restaurant is closed during the evening, and the bistro offer is very limited for the dinner (pizza or sandwich).

Good location, but it is a little bit difficult to arrive there for the first time from the tram / bus stop.

Anyway, the general impression: good correct hotel.

This was a great base for exploring Vienna. The Strudlhof is on a quiet side street near Lichtenstein Palace. It is a mere 100 meters to the D tram that takes you right to the city center. Also, plenty of shops and neighborhood restaurants nearby if you are looking for a quiet break from downtown. The rooms have few frills but they are Western size with a comfortable bed and fast internet. The breakfast buffet is superior with plenty of fresh fruit/vegetables, smoked meats, eggs, and even salmon. The staff all speak English and are quite friendly. Would I stay again? Most definitely for the price!
