“Excellent stay in the heart of Vienna”
Reviewed 29 January 2011

I have lived for several months and also traveled many times to Vienna, and out of the generally high standards of Viennese hotels, this was the one that has almost everything I need (as a business person, and a female traveler looking for comfort and relaxation). slept late (feel like at home!) There are fancy hotels that make you pay a lot for the room and for every single other item you need - here the location is fantastic, just in front of the Opera, still it is quiet enough since on the other side of the ring, and there is everything one might need in the room. The room is very spacious, wonderful bed and large wardrobes nice pictures on wall, and very nice subtle fragrance used (eg by the cedar hangars that smell nicely of wood inside the wardrobe and a faint insense smell in the bathroom I don't know where it comes from). Many hotel rooms almost make me faint from strong perfume or detergent smell but this room was very comfortable. Also the air-conditioning is controllable by yourself to any temperature. There is a Nespresso machine and big LCD screen, excellent wireless for free. The hotel spa and massage was also very nice (for European standards). Highly recommend staying here especially if you don't mind spending just a little bit more for great value.

We liked this hotel, very well located.
Casual, elegant, spatious rooms. A good point: You have even an expresso machine in the room.

Spa comments: The sauna has a nice window over Vienna (small spa); a comment : the hamman was not working, and no jacuzzi.

Reception: Each time, we asked touristic info at the reception, the description was often quick, and each time, not so precise. Better to take your guide book.

We mentioned during our booking that we came for a wedding anniversary and a birthday; however, no specific answer or attention was given to that. Same thing at their restaurant (however, very good food, with slow service).

So a nice hotel that could become easily even better.

Dear 'camok', thank you for your review, much appreciated. I especially do welcome your comments on our spa and the reception, although I need to inform you that our hotel has no dedicated concierge services, our reception staff handles this as well and with their normal duties it might happen that it takes longer. I will certainly take your comments into consideration as these do help us to improve our overall service. Looking forward welcoming you again in the near future, I remain, with best regards from Vienna!

WOW! Stayed 8 days, including New Years. Pleasant staff, clean quiet rooms. Perfect location, in middle of the action. 1 minute to u-bahn. WALK: near most landmarks: Albertina museum, Hofburg palace, Opera, St Stephens cathedral. WALK: near great shopping on Kartnerstrasse and KohlMarket. Near great restos: try Weibels Wirthaus for typical Austrian meal and Artner for a high-end luxury experience. Day trip to Grinzig (vineyards) well worth it. Visited Hotel Bristol, Hotel Sacher, Hotel Imperial, Le Meridien, all close by BUT I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AT THE RING AGAIN.

After flying for a hideous 24 hours, we were so thankful to be able to collapse in our hotel rooms at The Ring! Although we arrived early, the staff were very attentive to our needs and promptly arranged rooms that were available for us to check into. The best thing about this hotel is the wonderful location - this was a major highlight for us as it was so cold outside we didn't have to travel far to get to the major attractions. The beds were very comfortable, but, to be honest, some stuffing in the pillows wouldn't go astray! They were so flat and no alternative pillows were available so we used the decorative ones instead. I know some people like slimmer pillows but.. come on! Aside from this, what we really loved was the complimentary Nespresso coffee that was refilled everyday - we were all very addicted to it by the end of our stay. Another positive element of our stay was the random surprises that we found in our room every now and then. One day we were given complimentary donuts and the next we received some chocolate truffles. Pillows aside, there was really nothing to fault The Ring hotel - it was great.

Dear 'travellertonkes', a very good combination, having snow outside and drinking a hot Nespresso coffee in your room@The Ring. Your review is indeed a great one, many thanks. I am happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us, I will look at the pillows in the rooms, never received any comments on those but they might need some extra stuffing. Looking forward welcoming you again in the near future. Best regards!

I stayed here in December for my honeymoon, I selected this hotel because of the casual luxury and location. The deciding factor however was the staff who were very helpful and attentive and went above and beyond to ensure that we had the most amazing stay at their hotel. They didn't even hesitate in moving my booking when I had to reschedule due to all the snow.

The hotel itself is fantastic with large clean rooms, very comfy beds, underfloor heating in the bathrooms and lovely furnishings. There is free internet in the lobby and a very nice restaurant and wine seller which offers tastings.

Be sure to try the bar which is recommended in Lonely Planet, I very much enjoyed their beren punsh which went down very well on a cold Decembers evening. They aren't short on the measures either!

Another must is the gym, sauna and steam room located on the 7th floor. Although small it is generally not made the most of by the guests and so a great place to relax for a while before venturing out in the evening.

The location is great being only 1 minute walk from the state opera, 5 minutes from the Town Hall & main Christmas Market, main high street and St Stephens.

If I was forced to say anything negative it would only be the price of the movies to rent and the amount of English channels available but then that's not why you go to Vienna or stay at the Ring hotel.

The best hotel i have stayed in.

A big thank you to Carl & Helen.

Dear 'Colin-78', I thank you very much for this wonderful review. It seems to me that your stay could not have been more perfect, I do agree on the prices for the movies to rent, I will look into this and I must say that I never had a comment on the limited number of englisch channels, I will also look into this. I must admit that we did do a great job and made your trip (a honeymoon trip) to an unforgettable one, for which I also thank our staff. Looking forward welcoming you again@The Ring in the near future. Best regards!

The Ring - Relais & Châteaux is one of Vienna's most hip City- and Lifestyle hotels. Since its opening in November 2007 it pampers its guests with outstanding comfort and casual luxury in every detail. You find the hotel best located, in the middle of the centre of Vienna, the famous art-, culture and shopping mile Wiener Ringstraße in front of the door. At Kärntner Ring number 8 the historic façade has been lovingly renovated. Inside guests are welcomed by a modern, straight and nevertheless sensual interior. New elements were merged with old ones - for example the 100-year old elevator and the plastered walls of the "Ring Suite", combined with modern design. The Ring, Vienna's Casual Luxury Hotel, has 68 rooms and suites available, all luxuriously equipped and made of an inspiring mix of contemporary and classic design. Guests can choose between Casual-, Special, and X-ordinary rooms, as well as Cosmopolitan suites or the unique Ring Suite. The innovative illumination concept and the exquisitely made bathrooms complete the extensive feeling of living. The concept of warm brown and beige colors, refreshing pistachio and fiery red makes the hotel an amazing place. At the stylish hotelbar "Drings" by Le Zefire guests can expect the atmosphere of a French Club, great drinks, international music and cool people. On a regular basis live DJs will be contributing to the party feeling. The restaurant "at eight" is located on the ground floor and pampers the guests with outstanding international, toque winning seasonal aroma cuisine. Apart from the cuisine awarded with two toques, the innovative design concept impresses the guests. "Dressing up for the evening" - the restaurant at eight changes its clothes every afternoon and suits up to be the perfect evening restaurant for its guests. At The Ring Day Spa guests can shake off their stress from all-day life. The Spa, located on the 7th floor, offers an amazing view over the rooftops of Vienna. A fitness area with most modern training equipment and entertainment centre is available for the guests. Fresh fruit and water are on disposal for free. Changing rooms, safe deposit boxes, shower rooms and towels are available on location. For guests of the hotel, the fitness area is opened around the clock.
