We recently stayed at the Opera Suites on Karntner Strasse in Vienna and had a lovely stay. This hotel is very well situated with large, comfortable and affordable accommodations, making it a rather ideal place to stay for those wanting to be right in the centre of the city. We would happily return to the Opera Suites for another stay next time we are in Vienna.
Booking and Check-in: Reservations made through www.booking.com. Check-in was expedient and we were on our way up to our room in less than five minutes after having arrived. Staff were also friendly and attentive throughout our stay.
Location: Hotel was very well situated in the middle of the old town, just
across from the Sacher Hotel and cafe, within 1-2 minutes walk to the famous Vienna State Opera House. The Karlsplatz Metro Station is also just 3-4 minutes walk away from the Hotel.
Room: We found the room well decorated in Old World style. Furniture was nice and the room space was huge, with plenty of area for us to walk around and store clothing and bags. A water sink and tiny kitchenette space was also included, including coffee and tea facilities which were replenished daily and standard fridge and drinks/snacks. TV worked fine but mostly German channels only. Wifi was provided. It was slow in our bedroom but very fast in the lobby area.
Beds: Our room came with two single beds pushed together. Mattresses were very much to our liking - perfect in our opinion, just the right firmness/softness - and comfortable, providing excellent nights of sleep at the Opera Suites.
Bathroom: A spacious bathroom came with the room, it was well-stocked with toiletries as well, fixtures worked fine, shower pressure was nice, warm water throughout.
Hotel Entrance somewhat obscured: As well located as the hotel is, it can be a bit difficult to see it, particularly if you are arriving at night. There is a ground floor entrance into the building, just next to a souvenir shop that is past the Starbucks. Just note it is directly across from the Sacher Cafe. Walk inside, use the small lift to go up or walk up the stairs.
Lift is too small: The building lift is very small, capable of holding 2 people only. If you have luggage, you'll need to go up one at a time or walk up the stairs to the second floor where the hotel lobby area is located.
Safe: was much smaller than we prefer, only providing enough room for paperwork, small digital cameras and iPad sized device. Regular camera bodies, laptops and similarly sized equipment don't fit within.
Wifi: Connection was often slow in our room. However, it worked well in the main lobby area.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Opera Suites. The large room, space and very comfy beds made this a lovely room. Further, the location is right in the middle of the historic centre of Vienna, making it very convenient for sightseeing, dining or making way to a performance. In the end, we were very pleased with our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to return to Opera Suites in Vienna.
