“Great display of aircraft”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

We visited this fantastic museum and it was well worth the 17 hour train trip to the top of Norway. The aircraft display was well set out with a large amount of original aircraft including a wreck from the World War II German aircraft in the same sate it was located in. Some of the information could have been set out with English so it made sense but again whatever it was worth the visit.

“Interesting and spacious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

Even if you are not in to planes you would fint this interesting. Lots of history, especially in the military part. Clean and tidy and just the right size for a couple of hours visit. Great alternative for a rainy day. Small souvenir shop and nice cafeteria too.

“Interesting for all ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

We visited the museum as part of a extended family trip in February. Our party consisted of people of ages from two to sixty. Everyone found something to enjoy in the exhibitions and/or the activities.

“Well worth a visit.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

The museum is split in two. The military section has a cold-war focus. Naturally enough as Bodø was where the U2 with Powers was heading for in the mid-60s. They have a real U2, but it is in the civilian section as it had a civilian registry. I liked all of it.

“An extremely comprehensive museum, on both the civil and military sides.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2014

Bodo is fairly remote in Northern Norway, so it was a surprise to find quite such a comprehensive - and excellent - museum here.

Both the civil and military sides were fascinating and very informative. From meteorology, polar navigation and air traffic control, to the effect of the Second World War and Norway's role in the Cold War, everything is covered. There is the contrast of a Spitfire operated by the Royal Norwegian Air Force and the recently recovered remains of a Luftwaffe aircraft.

Our visit was during the stop in Bodo of the Hurtigruten ferry; even if the ship hadn't been 45 minutes late docking we would have had nowhere near enough time to do this museum justice.
