The cabins are lovely and warm, just a little off the town. There is also a sofabed in the cabin. It was a good location to enjoy the peace of the north. We were in a large group and rented multiple cabins next to each other - so it was all the more fun! The only possible negative about this place (if I can call it that) is that there is a short walk that you need to take to the nearest bus stop (about 10 minutes). For northern light hunters, this could prove a dampener. As with any place this far north, it also becomes a little difficult to tread in the winters when it snows. The place is also not cheap by continental European standards. There aren't any stores / restaurants nearby either for food - you better stock up if you are planning to stay a few days!

Hi and thank you very much for your feedback. I'm glad to hear that you had a good time staying with us. Actually, we have a restaurant and a food shop about 10 minutes walking from the Camp site. I'm sorry that you didn't get this information. Also, next year we are upgrading by building a new reception- and service building, then we are planning to have a better offer of food. We wish you welcome back us! Best wishes, Lone, Tromsø Camping.

The cabins are great, very clean and well provided for. The heating meant the cabin stayed comfortably warm inside despite below-freezing outside temperatures. Good hot shower, though unfortunately it drained at a dribble meaning we had to wait a while after the previous person showered.

We ended up sharing a four to five person cabin between three which worked out perfectly. With bunk beds in each small bedroom (one with a double bed on the bottom) we could put luggage on the top bunks. Otherwise it would be a bit cramped. We were a group of friends; I think they would be great for families also.

Situated just over the bridge from the city centre (around a mile and a half) you can walk in, with spectacular views, get one of the frequent buses, or sharing a cab costs around the same as the bus.

Wi-fi is available for a charge although for some reason we were given it free.

We stayed for 4 nights in February 2013. The 2/3 man cabins were lovely & warm, but pretty small for 3 people - one of us had to sleep on a sofa bed.
The only issue we had was that the site was pretty full of travellers with their reindeers (possibly for some sort of meeting) and they all had vans & trailers that they left all over the place, blocking access to some parts of the site, and generally walking right in front of our cabin - which the ladies didn't appreciate!
Access to town was good, and the staff very helpful. We'd probably go back, but with slightly lower expectations than we arrived with.

We will be back next year, just come back from a week at tromso camping, we were worried if it would be cold in the cabins but far from it, a nice touch was they had turned the heating on for us so when we arrived it was lovely and warm, all the basic amenities there, staff were friendly and helpful, short walk to bus stop into tromso or taxi which on average was 150/200 NOK, we saw the northern lights outside the cabin 5 nights out of the 7 we were there so didnt need to go on a tour, nice walks behind the cabins, all in all a wonderful place and we are busy planning our next trip there, thankyou tromso camping

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights.
At first we had issues with running water, however were informed that cabins 55 & 56 have been having issues. The staff quite happily moved us to another cabin with the same facilities but a little older.
We were given complimentary Wi-Fi and were told that it covers the whole camp ground, which I found a little surprising, we had no problems with the connection.
Our rooms were comfortable and warm.
The cooking facilities we had were OK, stovetop, microwave, small fridge, and kettle. Cutlery was provided but some was missing.
We found that the location was good, but we didn't mind to travel into town every day.
It is about a 5-10min walk to the bus stop, then a 5 min bus trip into town. It costs 40NOK per person one way. It would be possible to walk into town, but being winter we decided not to.
They don't appear to have a booking service for any extra activities, so we did that in town at the tourist info centre.
With the self contained cabins, you can opt to clean them yourself or there is a charge of 450NOK to have them cleaned when you leave. They provide all the cleaning gear.
Overall it was good for us.
