Everything I have to say about City Living Tromsø is positive. I am often really critical as I like people who read my reviews can have an (subjective) accurate idea of what they are going to find.
I arrived to Tromsø by Hurtigruten in the middle of the night (March).
Regarding the staff, THEY ARE REALLY HELPFUL AND KIND!! They assisted me 150% since before arriving in order to do not get lost. As the hotel was really close to the pier, it was not necessary to take a taxi. I sent them an email regarding I was arriving quite late at night as the reception is open until 12pm. They called me in order to give me all the instructions regarding where to find my roomcard. They even sent me (without asking) a scanned map to follow from the pier.
When I got to the apartment, I found a very nice and comfortable room with 2 beds and kitchenette. Big bathroom with floor heating and a big shower cabinet. The room was quite well decorated with modern furniture. I LOVED IT!!! Quality for price!!!
Also because of staying at City Living, I had the opportunity to take breakfast with discount just across the street (norwegian buffet).
Central location, clean, nice and cozy rooms, great facilities and 150% helpful staff for 699 nkr!!!

Stayed here for 4 nights. Very good location, and a good price for Tromso.

In the summer the reception is open till midnight (guests have their own key cards though, so can come and go as they please). The reception staff were very friendly and helped us with whatever we needed. The hotel was clean, and the room came with a a kitchen, dining table and lounge chair. The hotel is also equipped with free washing machines and driers (detergent not provided). Many other items, such as microwaves and irons were available for free. We were also allowed to store rented bikes in our rooms, or in the hotel's closed yard. It's a quite relaxed place - easy and eager to please.

The downsides were some of the amenities in the room. Our dishwasher (not all rooms have them, so check) needed some maintenance, which the staff accomplished. A couple of bulbs also needed replacing. The air conditioning in the rooms is quite loud, but we were able to get a good night's sleep there.

All in all though, my wife and I had a very positive experience here! Having our own kitchen was practically a necessity as we were not prepared to pay for meals out, which are very expensive in Norway (on average food is about twice the price of the UK).

What a great location in the heart of Tromsø! We were very fortunate to get a great room at the top and loved our stay at this innovative hotel/apartment genre property. The staff is fantastic and probably the best part of the whole package. The rooms were comfortable, the bedding adequate, the water pressure great, the kitchen functional and enough amenities to survive. However, the reasonable price for the stay (Norway is super expensive) is offset by some minor deficits that the traveler needs to know before booking. These include that you have to get and change your own towels and bedding, sort your own trash and basically clean up after yourself (this is not a hotel!). Also, the parking downstairs is limited (you have to pay for it), the drive way down is tight and scary, there’s no ice machine, poor selection of channels on the TV, scuff marks from other people’s luggage everywhere on the doors and floors, no room (tables or holders) to put anything down in the shower or bathroom, worn out towels, tight closet doors and furniture upholstery and carpeting (hallway) that definitely needs immediate steam cleaning. Oddly enough, our room had eighteen double electrical sockets and one single for a total of 39, enough to run a machine shop. We would have gladly traded 38 of those sockets for one dresser table and a shampoo rack in the bathroom. We really liked the place and loved the staff, but be prepared for bare essential “city living” without the hotel lifestyle.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 6th floor.

Stayed 4 nights in February for northern lights chasing holiday! Much cheaper than a hotel- this is basically a rented apartment - decorated fairly basically but all very clean and warm. Kitchen more than adequate and due to the high prices in Norway we ate in all the time and saved hundreds of pounds. Very quiet- although a busy time of year- we did not hear or see other guests. We had a street view, on 2nd floor and could see the mountains.
Pavements in tromso can be very slippery - they don't seem to clear them often or grit !
Reception helpful- it is in a separate building to the apartment next door- very friendly when I emailed ahead. They eve. let us use their front desk pc to print our boarding tickets to come home!
We were very lucky in our search for the lights- we saw them for 5 hours solid on our night chasing trip and the best of the winter so far!

Now, this seemed like to be a budget hotel, it turned out to be the best choice ever! Perfect location, massive spaces in the apartment, clean- spotless clean - modern, you've got a kitchenette, very effective heating - not to mention the floor heating :-) What else... car rental: just behind the hotel, airport bus stop 2 minutes away. Underground car park (and parking in Tromso can be a hassle), and last but not forgotten: the most friendly and helpful front office team ever! Did I forget? This was the best offer in city that time...
