Description: Just like its more mature Harstad sibling (1996), this Tromsø-restaurant celebrates the French and Italian love of food, but gives it a North Norwegian character. The obvious focus for De 4 Roser is, of course, on the combination of food, wine and service. Local suppliers and local produce is an important factor in the menu. De 4 Roser can seat 60 and features a contemporary kitchen and an interior that is both simple and austere. This is an excellent venue for both small and large occasions. The first floor café is designed in a European style and the coffee and lunch menus are just as good as in Harstad. A dinner and large drinks menu is also available. Food is served daily from 10 am.

We enjoyed some lovely brunches in the downstairs cafe. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Prices were very reasonable for Norway. Highly recommended.

Great food, a gastronomic experience. Eaten here several times with a set menu, and never been disappointed. Had a 4-course dinner, but in total we had 9 dishes, with smaller tasting experiences between the main dishes. The place to be for eating good local food!

We ate at the upstairs restaurant last night. The food is absolutely amazing! And the service matches that! Very clever attention to detail. Every detail is well planned. We had the four course set meal. My husband had the matching wines. There were several 'amuse bouche' brought to the table which were interesting. This is not a cheap restaurant. Our bill came to 2700KON. Very expensive, even by Norwegian standards. But I can truthfully say this was one of the best dining experiences we have had.

We were recommended to go to this restaurant by Emma's, another well known restaurant in Tromso. We had no idea what to expect. When we sat down, we were asked if we would like a glass of champagne, which we declined, but did opt for a glass of wine with our meal, which was French and quaffable. I had two starters, because they both sounded so good! (And they were both full of flavour!,) One was red fish, smoked in two ways, cold and hot, and the other was rabbit terrine which was meaty and more-ish. Now you might think that would not be sustaining as a full meal, and you might be right. However, little nibbles kept arriving in between--crispy fish skin bites, a taste of cruncy lettuce with a touch of vanilla, a trio of tastes on a plate including battered cod tongue and a creamy celery soup, a gorgeous refresher of blueberry sorbet with champagne foam (aah, we did get our champagne after all...) between courses, all of which were a delightful surprise, and none of which appeared to require paying for! When the bill came it was just for our starters, mains and drinks which I thought was exceedingly generous, especially as these mini-tastes were 'thoughtful' in both senses of the word. Our waiter took great care to explain each food offering as he presented it to us.
We were in the upstairs restaurant, not the cafe downstairs. It's a bit difficult to find, but definitely worth persevering for the experience.
