Description: Just like its more mature Harstad sibling (1996), this Tromsø-restaurant celebrates the French and Italian love of food, but gives it a North Norwegian character. The obvious focus for De 4 Roser is, of course, on the combination of food, wine and service. Local suppliers and local produce is an important factor in the menu. De 4 Roser can seat 60 and features a contemporary kitchen and an interior that is both simple and austere. This is an excellent venue for both small and large occasions. The first floor café is designed in a European style and the coffee and lunch menus are just as good as in Harstad. A dinner and large drinks menu is also available. Food is served daily from 10 am.

“Our favorite in Tromso”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

We tried several restaurants in Tromso including Fiskekompaniet, Coffee by Elli, Aunegarden, Arctandria, Emma's Drommekjokken, and Egon. We ate at the cafe first and enjoyed it so much that we went back another evening to dine at the restaurant upstairs. Earlier in the week we ate at Emma's Drommekjokken (the more expensive upstairs dining area). Overall, I enjoyed the meal and service at Emma's, but the moose was not very tender. If I hadn't eaten moose again at De 4 Roser I would have left Norway thinking that was just how moose is. I also liked the more modern decor of De 4 Roser, but it was the food at both the cafe and restaurant that made it our favorite.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

We ate in the cafe having heard great reports. The dish of the day was a slow cooked lamb with veg and mash. It was a generous portion and delicious. The cafe was low on atmosphere during our visit but I would still have been more fulsome in my praise were it not for the staff.

During the meal the fire alarm went off very loudly and continued for several minutes, no one even offered an apology. It wasn't just us upset, two women left their drinks and went.

We had some time to kill before our flight so lingered longer than we would normally but during all this time no one asked if we enjoyed the meal, wanted a Dessert or coffee, nor did they clear our plates.

It may be counter service but there were two waiting staff, six customers and nothing to do, I. An't believe the owner would be happy to know the staff are doing nothing to drum up business.

When we left I noticed a tip jar on the counter, there was very little in it.... I wonder why.

“The best in Tromso”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

We had business dinner in there, good food, but there are not plenty of options to choose from - just a daily menu, but prepared very well. I liked this, but if you're looking for more European , then choose smth else. Good wine menu!

“Exciting place to eat in Tromsø”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

This is for the time being the most exciting restaurant in Tromsø. It is maybe the place in town that live best up to the style of the New Nordic Kitchen. You choose between a 4 or 6 course menu, all based (for the most part) on local produce. The kitchen is very creative and will give you a great experience. Staff is very friendly and nice, almost on the verge of being too smiling and nice. The localities feels a bit cold and office like. But you will want to go here because of the food. Highly recommended.

“Great food, helpful staff”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

Had lunch here and the staff were friendly and very helpful, translating the specials on the board for us. Food was very good indeed - we had one pasta dish and a burger - and came with bread. Nice atmosphere too. Convenient location. Would have gone back on Sunday, but it was closed.
