“Tweede verblijf bij Tromsø Bed & Books”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

My first staying with Tromsø Bed & Books was in 2013 at the Fishermen's house. My second staying was beginning July 2014 at the Writer's house. I am very happy to give this a 5/5 rating because YES! It's worth all 5 stars. Very nice host, nice interiors of the houses with inspiring walls and furniture/decoration! Feel free to look at my photo's of my staying at room 4 of the Writer's house.

Tromsø Bed & Books has two houses - we´ve been at the fisherman´s house close to the sea. It´s a nice old wooden house with several cosy rooms and a communal kitchen for self catering. The house has a comfortable and private athmosphere, everything is very clean, it´s a less than 10 minutes walk to downtown. You may have your meals on the balcony (in the sun at breakfast time!), watching the ships passing by - or in the small garden. The house owner is very friendly and helpful. For sure the best stay in Tromsø ... we would choose it again!

I have stayed at this nice 3 floor house for 3 nights. The one we stayed is located by the river and have a nice view. We went to the wrong location and the host is nice enough to carry our luggage to the correct location! I would recommend this one to all travelers to Tromso ^^

Thank you very much for your kind words! It was a pleasure having you here, as well as helping out with the luggage - it was the least we could do! For other travellers we could add that the house you stayed in was the Fisherman's home and we agree the view from there is quite nice (although it overlooks the sea and not a river :) Welcome back some other time!

Stayed in both for a Northern Lights visit recently. Two nights in Writers then switched to Fishermans for a further four nights, switching rooms a further time. We had a hire car so need to book a parking place and checking in late in the evening no problem. Both cosy and have all you need to be self catering and save on eating out costs. Fishermans is a slightly further walk from the centre but has the view to the sea and cable car. Writers closer and we preferred it as it has a better arrangement of bathrooms. Excellent value but people are booking it a year ahead, so check your dates in good time.

Thank you very much for your kind words and for staying with us! We appreciate it a lot. We also wish we could arrange the bathrooms in the Fisherman's home a bit differently, but without tearing down the whole house and rebuilding it in a more modern way it's not so much to do about it. That's the charm of old houses I guess... :) Welcome back some other time! And yes, bookings for winter 2015 already coming in. All the best!

We stayed in the Fisherman's home for 2 nights in March 2014.
Positive points: Ida’s delicious creamy fish soup on Wednesday, nice view over the fjord from the living room window, house is cozy and clean, comfortable bed, good kitchen facilities
Negative points (which also depend on how many guests there are and how they behave): noise from the street, house is badly soundproofed, tiny toilet downstairs, late arrivals could be better organized and done quietly with B&B team (we were awaken by the bell, we had to open the door for new guests, took at least 10 min until a member of the B&B came, very loud before and while checking in!) ADVICE: don’t forget your earplugs if you want to sleep!
I would rather recommend the Writer's home.

Stayed here for a week in jan/feb 2014 and had an amazing time. the house is super cosy and like a home from home. 2 of us shared a 'single' room which was actually plenty big enough for the pair of us. The whole house has been recently decorated too so each room has a different look and the giant map to show where you're from and blackboard walls/doors are a fun touch. the hosts are about every day and more then happy to offer tips on what to do. the house is about 10 mins gentle walk to the centre of two and only a couple of minutes away from the closest Spar - it really makes a big difference having cooking facilities available, this and the free tea and coffee helped us save a lot to be able to spend our money on activities. couldn't recommend this place enough!

Room Tip: all rooms have been recently redecorated and they all looked amazing. the single room (4) was fine...

We stayed at the Writer's Home at the end of January and it felt like home straight away. The whole house is warm and beautifully decorated. As travellers on a budged we loved the fact that we could use the kitchen (eating out in Norway is incredibly expensive) and do our own washing. We fell in love with the place and would love to go back.
