After reading all the positive reviews, we decided to book with this company on our recent trip to Tromso for our wedding anniversary. We did the evening dog sledding tour on the 13th March and it was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. The couple who ran the tour were superb people, very friendly. Best of all, the dogs were AMAZING. You can tell they are well cared for and happy dogs. When we arrived we got kitted out in all the warm gear and then had a quick demo of how to drive the dog team. When the group set off towards our sleds, all the dogs howled and it was sooo amazing. They are so keen to get going! My husband and l took turns to drive our wonderful six dog team and it was EPIC. They love to run and as you head across the snow it is amazing. I have been fortunate enough to travel alot and do some wonderful things, but this is up there with one of the best things l have ever done. It was worth every penny, and l am seriously tempted to do one of their week long expeditions next year. Enjoy!

We booked a Dog sledding tour with Arctic Adventure Tours on March 8th and it was an unforgettable and a pretty arctic adventure.
Hege, Per-Thore, their team and their amazing dogs are just the wonderful.
From the moment Per-Thore picked us up in Tromso, to our arrival at their place where we met Hege and got warm suits, boots and hats, the dogs and dog sledding and - of course - the tea/coffee and Hege's chocolate cake afterwards....everything was just perfect.
Although the weather wasn't quite on our side and we had to literally fight our way through some kind of snow/ice storm it was such a unique and incredible experience we never want to miss.
It was storming and snowing/ice raining so badly that we had to keep one arm up to shelter our eyes to at least see vaguely where to go and what to do but this made it an even greater experience.
We had such a wonderful time that we did another tour with them again the very next day.
This time with good weather so we could not just enjoy the feeling of being part of a team (the 2 of us and 6 amazing dogs) but also take in this breathtaking scenery.
Hege and Per-Thore are very welcoming and warm hosts and are happy to share the dream they are living with their guests.
You can feel their love and passion for this fantastic sport everywhere.
If you are into dogs and outdoors don't miss out on an opportunity that you won't forget.

A massive THANK YOU to Hege, Per-Thore, their team and the dogs!

We will be back and hopefully will be able to do the 1 week tour with you next year!

Best wishes!

Nicole & Dirk (London)

Did the huskey evening ride. wow. you have to do this. it's worth every penny you spend on this. They pick you up in a nice can. drive for about 35 min to their home. and when you get our you see all the dogs already. very friendly and you can meet them right away.

then you go inside and change your clothes. you get good clothing from them. good boots and a warm suit. mittens are available as well.

we walked outside, quite........they told us, oke the dogs are waiting, when you turn on your light they will go crazy. we turn on the light.....'scary' sound of 42 dogs barking and screaming. the dogs are so exited it's hard to keep them stand still. you get a quick explanation about how to control the dogs and the sled, and then the moment is there.

you release the break and they are off. they run and run, it's amazing. funny thing is when you break (because people in front of you are slower) the dogs will look back with a face ' hey come on, we wanna run!'

we changed twice. so i started, then my girlfriend, and i drove the last part. so 2 small stops to change 'drivers'

it was just amazing and i really considering taking the week trip with them, after talking about it with the owner. this was one of the best things i did on my holidays!

We went out with Arctic Explorers on 2 nights and had a different guide each night. There are just 8 in the tour and you are picked up from your hotel in a people carrier van. No problems with space and very comfortable. You go the warehouse and get kitted out with ski body suit and everything else if you need it. Then you go in search of the lights.
You don't chase the Northern Lights, you look for a clear sky and a break in the clouds. If you can see stars you gave a good chance of seeing the lights as long as they are active. There are no guarantees, but Arctic Explorers will do their best to find them - even driving into Finland!
We did not have to go that far, and we got really good views both nights. The first night we went inland, the second night we went towards the sea and had great views over a fiord.
The guide will help you to take great photographs as it is quite specialised. A tip, only take an SLR with a good lens - an automatic is no good for this type of photography.
There was food offered but this was freeze dried stuff like they have in space and we did not bother with it. Did not here anyone complain about it, but did not look good and is loaded with calories.
We also went out with Karl-Ivars Northern Lights photography. Waste of time and money! Ok, we had a cloudy sky and the lights were not active, but we were supposed to have max. 8 on tour and there was 9 and we were squeezed into 2 cars. We were not given warm clothing and they did nothing to try and find a clear sky. They stopped in 3 places, all of them public car parks and there was far too much light pollution to even consider taking photos if there had been any activity. We chose to come back early as it was a complete waste of time.

I haven't done dog sledding before so can't really compare, but these guys are as professional as it gets and they make you feel very welcome. Everything from start to finish was absolutely perfect - good communication before the day, punctual pick-up, very friendly personal approach. The dogs look well taken care of, the camp is well organised and the team is high-energy.

You get basic training at the start, which is all you need. The snow was very icy which made it easier to crash a couple of times, especially as we really got into the speed, but that was part of the fun. Even if you don't ski, chances you will find this challenging are minimal (though existent - we had a guy on our team that found it absolutely impossible and terrifying).

Already planning my next one - this time a multi-day expedition, which I'm sure these guys deliver as impeccably as they do these intro sessions. Don't think twice, just do it, and do it with them.
