Arrived mid-afternoon to check in, which was done by a human, not a machine. Very friendly staff member who was enthusiastic about the hotel and gave us all the information we needed including the Wi-Fi code and an explanation of how to log on. Rooms were very clean and of a good size, beds maybe a little smaller than I was hoping but this wasn't really an issue. Nice big flat screen TV on the wall with a fold out desk and suitcase stand also built into this wall. Bathroom was a good size wetroom with good quality towels provided. Early/late check-in, towel change and room clean are not provided as standard for short stays, I believe the rooms are cleaned and linen changed every 4 days (could be mistaken) but it helps to bring the price of the accommodation down.

such a bargain - modern, comfy, and such a reasonable price (reasonable for anywhere -- esp for oslo!). the staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was modern and comfy, and overall quite a cool place. it's great that they have free tea and coffee as well as a kitchen to fix your own meals! good location to set out and explore the city too. there's even a little roof terrace with picnic tables. well worth staying here - save your money for the food and drink!

I spent one night at Comfort hotel Xpress in October 2013, as the price here were 1/3 of the package offered at the conference I attended. The rooms were clean, the rooms of standard size, and the only thing missing is a breakfast. But as the hotel is located in the city-centre, breakfast is easy to get, and you have just saved a 100 USD per night, so there should be room in you budget for a great breakfast ;)

My husband and I were very impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel right away. It has obviously been renovated recently and great care is taken with the presentation of the establishment. The rooms are small and basic, but for such a great price, you can't beat it.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, always smiling and very helpful. There is an eating area with fridges and microwaves in the basement which is very functional and helps avoid the expense of eating out at all meals. There is also food, snacks, and beverages (including alcoholic) for purchase in the lobby.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from downtown which is very convenient to get to the tramline, train, and bus stations...not to mention the shopping!
They offer you a $10/night savings if you chose not to have your towels changed and room cleaned every day.
Great Gym!
Our one complaint is that the weekend we stayed there were also 200 dental students from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark for a Dental Drinking Competition. The hotel should have had a little more foresight and booked the 200 students on the same floors instead of having them spread out over all 5 floors. The partying and running up and down the hallways screaming and giggling until 4 am was NOT a great experience.
I know this issue was addressed by a number of guests, including us, and the staff did report to us that they were having a meeting with the students and things calmed down the following night, but the last night it was loud and crazy again until 4 am.
Though the staff did address it with the students, they should have taken steps in advance to prevent the discomfort of the rest of their guests.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better. We were on the 2nd floor which is right where the stairs meet the elevato...

This hotel is pretty cheap for Oslo and what you get for your money is good - we had a standard double room which, although wasn't the biggest room in the world, was big enough and quite comfy. En suite bathroom was fine, and free tea and coffee are available in the reception. You have to pay extra for breakfast, cleaning and fresh towels. Good cafés are nearby for breakfast if you prefer, and it's in a great central location, 10 mins walk from both grunnerlokker and central station, and on a fairly quiet street.

Went in July 2012. Hotel is modern and clean. Rooms are not exactly spacious but are nicely decorated and cover the basics. It has a young feel but was disappointed not to find a bar. I know Oslo is not famed for being particularly hot, but it was when I went, and there is no air conditioning despite this being claimed at the time of booking, uncomfortable to sleep at night. Hotel seemed to be staffed by only one person at all times, so when we had a problem it took a long time to be resolved, staff was really nice though. We got free breakfast for the trouble, which was a nice touch. Check in is done through a machine and most people seemed to have trouble with it. Was pleasantly surprised to find 2 pinball machines, new and well maintained, very nice to kill some time. Locations is good. All in all a good hotel that is very good value for money.

We stayed at the hotel during a weekend break in Oslo. The location is central and within easy walking to the main sights. I was in a very comfortable and clean en suite bedroom. The philosophy of this hotel is that you don't have to pay for an unnecessary daily room cleaning and change of bedding and towels which makes sense to me. Breakfast is optional, but there're cafes and a supermarket nearby, cheaper than the hotel breakfast. There was free coffee/tea 24/7 downstairs. The receptionist was very kind and helpful. The only downside was that a single bed in my twin room was a little bit narrow and needed some getting used to.
