“Decent hotel in good location”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

I spent 3 nights at this hotel with a friend whilst visiting Oslo. Norway is a very expensive country, so I was quite happy when she suggested this place, which has very reasonable prices.
The room was small and very basic, but all furnishings were modern (I guess it is a Scandinavian thing). Room and bathroom were clean when we arrived, but I guess room cleaning is not included during your stay, as the room was not cleaned during our stay. If you are only there for a couple of nights it is fine, but longer term it might be an issue.
The weather was quite warm on the first night and there is no air conditioning in the rrom, so we had to sleep with the window open. I don't mind as I prefer fresh air, but people who don't like the heat (even though hotel said it is not common to have 24 degree days) might not like it.
The location is perfect: very close to the city centre, but also to other nice areas and parks, great for walks along Akerselva river. There is complimentary tea and coffee at reception.
It was a pleasant stay and I would stay there again if I visit Oslo again.

A clean hotel is paramount for me. This hotel did not disappoint. The rooms were small, but well maintained. There are little furnishings; wall unit with pull down desk & luggage holder, two chairs, and a nightstand that was a converted PC casing. Nonetheless, very clean. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean. We booked online and got a very good internet price (FYI. it was twice the price what we booked just a few days before we arrived.) There is no breakfast, but a grocery store is a short walk where you can buy something quick for about $10 USD for two people. Free coffee and tea is available 24x7. They also have beer available at the front desk for as little as 40Kr which we did a few times. I wish we had read Adam P's posting before we left. The uphill hike to the hotel from the train station was a definite workout. Much easier on the return trip. There is no changing of towels or sheets while we stayed which didn't bother us at all. My only complaints is that some of people that stay there use the community facilities for business meetings and take over entire tables, etc. Also, there is a place to store luggage, however, we watched a couple of times when the front desk clerk walked over and unlocked the door for someone, and then returned to the front desk, allowing several people to go in an retrieve items (we assume it was for their bags, but who knows?) You can purchase an early checkin or late checkout for 100kr which we did so we didn't have to leave our bags in the luggage room. The hotel is about a 10-12 min walk from the main street, Karl Johan's Gate, so while it was close, it wasn't exactly centrally located to anything.

Room Tip: There is a plaza not too far from the hotel where they occasionally have outdoor concerts. This is...

We stayed here for 4 nights in May 2014. Our room was around $120 a night. The staff was super friendly and helpful, especially the black gal who works PM shift. Rooms are fairly small but very clean. Beds are a little narrow and lumpy, but we slept well. There is a good flat panel TV in each room. We were very glad they had a laundry room, as our clean clothes were depleted by the time we got to Oslo.
This hotel has just about everything. A coffee machine in the lobby that makes excellent coffee with the push of a button. A kitchen downstairs with just about everything you need. A small supply of snacks in the lobby, very handy if you come in late or just want to eat at the hotel. Three pinball machines for entertainment. Two full-on iMacs in the lobby. The wifi in the rooms is very strong and reliable.
I can highly recommend this hotel. It is well thought out, attempts to provide everything for the traveler at a very reasonable price and is great quality. The location is also very good, with Karl Johann Gate just a few blocks away. There are restaurants all around from expensive to very expensive (nothing is cheap in Norway!) We enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return.

Room Tip: 8th floor has good rooms with windows that open.

For Oslo, this is a "discount hotel". It is not cheap by most standards, but was one of the better prices I found.

The rooms were comfortable, and it was relatively close to the central station (was about a 12 minute walk with the last bit a little uphill, so if you have heavy bags, that might effect your decision).

The hotel itself was convenient. Easy check-in. It has laundry facilities (you can wash your whole load of laundry there). They also had an exercise room which had all the equipment you could want which is great for a "discount hotel" to have. Except for the automated check-in and no changing of the sheets etc. daily (which didn't bother me at all), it is a great place to stay.

Everything was great. They had a malfunction with the fire alarm, but i don't think it is a great deal, probably they would have already fixed it by the time someone else read this review.
Enjoy the video games in the ground floor :)

The room was small but well set up and comfortable. Nice modern feel. Bathroom was great, nice and clean. Good location, everything you need in walking distance. Did have a noisy neighbor one of the nights but quiet the rest of the time.

We initially hesitated to book this place considering that it felt a bit Best Western on the website. But, real glad we did! It's a no frills place, don't expect bar fridges and slippers.
The hotel is quite central, say 12 minutes walk to the main railway station (potentially too long if you're carrying heavy luggage, unless you cab it). I requested a room with windows as I don't sleep well in warm rooms. I heard that air con in this hotel doesn't go any lower than 19, so had to ask. The staff are excellent and will help you with directions, storing food in the communal fridge. There is free coffee and tea, in the foyer plus a foosball and a Cahill out area - which is always good. They sell beer at reception for about 40nok so I suggest you grab a few before you head out in this expensive city!
PS the hotel is a 5 minute walk from one of the best burger places in Oslo, Illegal Burgers - def try that one out. And grab the free Oslo map, it's very useful and funny.

Hi there!

We’re so glad that you booked your stay here!

And we’re so taking your feed back regarding our website to the people in charge!

We’re thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and found your way across the street to our good neighbor Illegal Burger. So do we from time to time. (Blue Cheese Bacon and the Fish Burger are two favorites) We usually don’t need five minutes for the walk though. But then again: we’re not able to enjoy the 40 NOK beers as our guests do…

Thanks for the great feed back – and for sharing your tips to your fellow travelers. We really enjoyed having you here, and hope you’ll find your way to us again in the near future!
