Description: Herregardskroen opened in 1960, and its relaxed atmosphere and idyllic location in Vigeland Park makes it a popular place to take a break from the busy city. Herregardskroen is located next to Frogner Manor and Oslo City Museum, on the left hand side from the main entrance of Vigeland Park. The restaurant is open in summer. The closing time depends on the weather - if it is nice, they close at 11.30 pm (the kitchen closes at 11 pm). The same goes for the end of season - if the weather is nice, the restaurant will stay open. The restaurant has a catering service and is also available for private parties all year.

One of my favourite places. Very nice location, great view, quiet atmosphere and lots of outside seatings available. Great place for eating dinner as well as chilling out a hot summer day with some beers.

Should get more recognition indeed.
A must visit while in Oslo.

“The setting is excellent but the food left something to be desired”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

This is a great venue for a lovely summer evening but unfortunately the experience was ruined by the fact that the food we received was absolute rubbish. After a long day I looked forward to a nice entrecote steak cooked medium rare. What was delivered to me bore no resemblance and was so overcooked (which was obvious from looking at it) that not kitchen should have sent it out. To compound this 'schoolboy' error when I complained they told me they had no more entrecote left. I was, as you would imagine rather disturbed 30 minutes later to see a couple who had arrived after my steak 'incident' tucking into juicy looking steaks. I understand that it may have been a busy night but this is a seasonal restaurant and should be prepared for such nights. Doubt I'll be rushing back despite the lovely setting.

“Hidden Gem in the Frogner Park (Vigeland Park)”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

Very nice on a sunny weekend afternoon or a warm night summertime, there's no indoor seating so make sure the weather is nice. Nice view of the park and the little lake. Almost no tourists find the place as it lies a bit hidden away, bring your gps :-)

“I just love this place”
Reviewed 25 August 2012 via mobile

One of my faves in Oslo. This restaurant is like a hidden treasure among Oslo's restaurant chains. Although you dont Really go to Herregårdskroa without knowing Where it is, its not a place that you pass On your way, this is because its well... A hidden treasure in Frognerparken. Herregårdskroa is definitely worth a visit; the food is really good, it's a nice and quiet place, the atmosphere is nice, but I haven't been there outside the summer season so I don't even know if it's open then, atleast not for outdoor serving. The outdoor serving is one of the important factors that make this place so nice and special. It is pretty expensive however, but if you're used to Norwegian prices you shouldn't worry bout it. Beautiful surroundings!

“A glass of beer in the afternoon sun...”
Reviewed 7 February 2012

That's what we do at Herregaardskroa. No place to have dinner, but you might have a sandvich with your beer or white wine if you are hungry.
