We spend 3 nights here during our stay in Oslo and were very pleased. We arrived before check in and the staff took our luggage off our hands and told us they would do their best to open a room for us before the typical check in time of 3. We walked around the city and found the time passed quickly. Upon our return we found they had upgraded us to a business suite at no extra charge. This was certainly a pleasant surprise. Our room had a fridge/freezer, oven, and stove which allowed us to prepare some simple meals in our room, a very pleasant surprise which saved us some money in an expensive city. The balcony was amazing and our view (from 11 floors up) was stunning. We spent every evening enjoying the late night sunshine and watching the city unwind.

As for the nitty gritty that everyone wants to know when checking Tripadvisor, the rooms were clean and well maintained. The shower in the bathroom was strange (swinging door that doesn't really close to anything so water splashes over the toilet during the shower) but we simply left the lid down while showering and it didn't pose us any difficulties. (The sink and towel rack stay dry.) The breakfast was very good, lots to choose from and everything was tasty and fresh. There is free tea/coffee and biscotti cookies round-the-clock in the lobby. The hotel has a lot of cute little extras for those travelling with kids. A little care pack is given to each child on arrival with crayons, coloring books, a token for a free ice cream, and some toys. There are toys in the lobby and the breakfast has plenty of high chairs available, bibs and childrens dishes, along with a special breakfast area made easy for children to fix their own plates. The location is very accessible to downtown, right in the heart of things.

All in all it was a great stay and we would be happy to stay there again of the occasion arises.

I have stayed at the Thon Hotel Panorama both on business trips as well as on holiday on a few occacions and have been happy with it. The superior rooms are spacious and clean, with amazingly comfortable beds and a great view if you can get a room on the higher floors. A wider choice is offerred at breakfast and there is a great coffee machine on tap in the hotel reception. The hotel is very centrally located and just a few short minutes walk down to the harbour front & the staff are friendly and helpful.

The key card didn't work first time though, but the replacement was ok. I suggest that the hotel has more than one staff on duty in the morning when people are queuing to check out in the morning as there was quite a line up when guests all want to check out at the same time.

Thank you for writing a review of your stay with us. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Regarding the parking we do have four parking spaces in the basement of the hotel, however these must be ordered prior to your arrival as they are often occupied. We hope to see you the next time you are in town.

This was our first trip to Oslo, and we had no idea about the best locations to stay in the city. We decided on this hotel because, for Norway prices, it was very reasonable. We rather expected that its location close to the main railway station might be a bit scuzzy. So, we were very pleasantly surprised when we found it was actually a really great, quiet location. It was walking distance to the trams we needed to get anywhere, and an easy walk to the waterfront and to many museums and attractions.
We did have several long waits at reception, but the receptionists (especially the guys) charmed our 5 year old daughter (and plied her with a goodies), so she never got bored. There was also a kids playroom, and table-tennis in the lobby. She really loved HER hotel. They know how to keep children happy.
The highlight for parents was the good strong coffee always available in the lobby.
The room was great - a little studio with a balcony looking over the courtyard - just what we needed. We were amazed to find an small kitchen area which was just perfect on our small family budget. We like wet-room bathrooms, so no problems with that. We kept the sofa-bed in the living area folded out the whole time for lounging, and there was still plenty of space. Separate double bedroom was tight, but was only used for sleeping anyway.
Breakfast was fab - a big selection of cold and hot foods (including herring - yum) - enough for us to skip lunch most days.

Was here for only 24 hours- about 6-7 blocks from the train station
able to walk with luggage. Modern clean hotel- good breakfast.
Would recommend it. Our room was on busy street so quite a bit
of noise.

The room was average for this price range. The shower was separated from the toilet beside it by a movable semi circular glass panel which did not stay where you wanted it to but would move toward the shower space when you were trying to have a shower. It also meant that half the floor got wet. The room wall and ceiling had some old splash marks on it but was clean. The room was quiet and is easily within walking distance from the central train station. The breakfast (included in the price) was very good for a European hotel. Scrambled eggs, poached eggs with bacon, sausages, baked beans and porridge . About 10 different types of bread, extensive continental breakfast selection including kefir and gluten free cereal - pretty impressive

We just wanted a twin room for a quick stop over in Oslo as we would arrive at about 5.00p.m. and would be leaving at 7.15 a.m. - so we looked for an affordable hotel (norwegian affordable!), somewhere clean and comfortable. The Thon Hotel Oslo Panorama exceeded our expectations. We had a warm welcome at reception and were directed to our room - we had asked for a twin bedded room, which they didn't have so they had made up a second double bed in our large room. It was spacious, clean, quiet and more than we had expected. We also had the most enormous decked terrace AND a second smaller balcony. We were near everything Oslo has to offer. When we told reception we would have to leave very early they offered to make up a breakfast for us that we could take with us but as it turned out they opened the breakfast room early and we had the classic norwegian buffet breakfast there. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We travelled on across Norway and ended up in Stavanger. Unfortunately the Thon was fully booked there but again the Receptionist was charming in turning us away and even searched for somewhere else we might be able to stay. As I travel to Norway 2/3 times a year I will definitely stay at a Thon Hotel next time and will recommend the hotel chain to friends, family and colleagues. Don't hesitate - stay here you will be well looked after.

Room Tip: Try and ask for a room with a decked terrace- huge.
