Had a three course dinner with wines and colleagues on a monday night. No others in the entire restaurant.
First course was the best: raw salmon with prawns in a nice sauce.
Main course was reindeer - delicious!
Dessert was a triple chocolate dish with berries on top. Even though local wild blue berries were in season and very available, they went for the industry blue berries, white all the way through and hardly any taste. That's a shame.

Wines were 5 out of 6 all the way through the meal.

Oslo used to have lots of post offices with a busy life throughout the day. By now, most postal services have moved into grocery stores with extended opening hours.

The former main post office of Oslo has experienced a successful transformation into a stylish first class restaurant. Right in the centre of Oslo, and easily accessible with public transportation and by foot from most hotels.

My wife and I have found the Posthallen Restaurant to be a very pleasant place to go for tasty and exclusive meals. Much of the former interior of the post office has been kept or carefully transformed to make a very stylish environment. This is a place to go to celebrate birthdays or more typical family gatherings, like communon (confirmation), weddings, etc. The area has even been a popular place for conferences and congresses, as well as exhibitions.

The food is mainly focused on Nordic traiditions with a set menu for the day or a more comprehensive menu to choose from. We have found the dishes to of excellent quality. The service is impeccable and friendly. Most staff are from Sweden and they are doing a good job. The interior might be found a bit too dark. But this is rather natural because of traditions which are being conserved so elegantly in this area. The price level is rather moderate and "within reach" even for budget travellers.

A place to be recommended to all !

The posthallen restaurant is located close to the central train station and has a very small menu. The standard 3 course menu for 398 nok offers the best value.

Our menu included a venison carpaccio with cloudberry dressing, urfe and potato main course and a chocolate mango mouse for desert. The service is ok

This venue is good for couples or a small group. The lighting is dim and atmosphere low key. The menu was not large, I would say focused, or even honest, not giving the impression of over-achieving. The food was very good, we had lamb, which was nice and tender. Average, but friendly service.

Really good entrecote, nice atmosphere. Not too pricey either. Staff could have been a bit more cheerful, though. Our waiter did her job just fine, but it wouldn't hurt to smile every now and then.
