“Modern and friendly hotel.”
Reviewed 3 May 2013

This was a great location for visiting the city. The hotel was in a quiet location but within easy reach of the centre of town, either by walking or tram. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room which was a shame but as we were on the first floor (which was actually the ground floor) there was a drinks facilities in the lobby which was round the corner from our room, so at least we could get to these easily (just had to make sure you were suitably dressed before getting a drink). Great nights sleep as double bed was comfortable and we had separate quilts. Rooms were modern but on the small size. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Not a big hotel but staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.

Room Tip: Ground floor (which they call 1st floor) was surprisingly quiet.

I was surprised from the high ranking of this hotel. It is a very nice hotel, but its simply too far from the city center - around 15-20 minutes walk, and around 30 minute walk from the central station.
Breakfast was good, as in most hotels in Oslo,
Room was on the small side and so was the single bed ,however the room was indeed nice.

Next time I will stay closer to the city center ,the best area is somewhere in the middle between central station and the royal palace

Dear Nadav,

Thank you very much for your review of our hotel.

I agree with you, if the central station is the City Center, we are a 25 min walk away. But only 10 min walk from the main street Karl Johan, The Royal Palace and the sculpture park called "Vigelandsparken". We enjoy the quiet streets around, giving you very nice sleep quality in Oslo. Away from the noice and traffic down town.

If you want to go shopping the largest shopping street is only 200 meters away, called Bogstadveien. The tram 19 and 12 is just a short two minutes walk from the hotel, they will take you to the National Theatre in 5 minutes and Central Station in 7-10 minutes.

We are proud of our breakfast, thank you for letting us know that you enjoyed it. Did you taste our homemade scrambled eggs and the pancakes?

The single beds at Saga are actually quite large if you compare single beds in Norway. We only have 1,4 meters wide single beds, the normal width are around 1 meter. If you want something bigger we can offer you our double bed, 1,8 meter wide.

At most we hope that you enjoyed Oslo and thanks again for giving us a review.

Have a great day!

Nice hotel, just outside city centre (15-20 min walk to the Karl Johan street), but close to the west end shopping street "Bogstad veien". Also close to the Oslo Micro Brewery bar with some of the best beers in Norway! Hotel is quite new with classic 4 star quality, but beds are to soft for me. Breakfast is very good and above average, WiFi (free) is also good as well. Free parking, which is unusual for a Oslo hotel, but it's because it's a bit away from city centre.

If you'd rather stay in a "real" neighborhood than tourist central, this is a nice option. It's an easy walk to most of the main attractions (and is just a block from the tram line if you'd rather not walk). I don't think it's wheelchair accessible, since there are a few stairs at the front entrance.

My room was quiet and well kept. The bed was comfortable and seemed allergen-free. The facilities were typical European size--much smaller than American rooms, but did not feel cramped. Wifi was included. Staff all seemed friendly and helpful. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits were available in the lobby.

Breakfast selection was less extensive than I've generally seen in European hotels.

Check-in was quick and without issue.
Hotel staff very friendly, efficient and helpful.
Wifi service free and excellent signal(in fact the best I have experienced in a hotel)
Reception areas clean, freely available tea and coffee and access to mac computer.
Room was modern, clean, comfortable but lacking the small but crucial extras you take for granted in a larger hotel chain I.e. sewing kit, kettle, trouser press, toiletries etc..
Breakfast - great selection of hot cold buffet, cereals, museli, yoghurt, breads and cheeses.

The Saga hotel is a newly renovated older three story corner building in a residential area of Oslo. The hotel is within walking distance from bus and tram stops as well as major shopping areas. We used this hotel as a base for accessing the tram to go cross country skiing on trails just outside the city. The hotel itself was very comfortable with brand new furnishing. Gourmet coffee was available 24-7 in the lovely candlelit living room just off the reception area. The hotel receptionists were friendly, spoke English fluently, and helped us figure out how to negotiate the transit system. The breakfast area was downstairs and also newly decorated. A full breakfast bar with both hot and cold options was available everyday. They also had a nice little bar area where small groups cold meet. If I ever go to Oslo again, I will definitely go to this hotel.

Room Tip: An upstairs room would probably have a better view than a downstairs room. We took a downstairs room...

This hotel has great interior design, super location (can be bit tricky for turist, but you can take a tram from the main train station to 1 block fom the hotel, no need for taxi!). I stayed only for 1 night and left to earlie to have some breakfast. My sister stayed longer and loved it! The hotel has comfortable bed! Helpfull staff! Cool and interesting shops in the area and ok night scene! I will def. Come back!

Room Tip: Stay longer to enjoy the hotel!
