“Great spot and well located”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

Though the hotel is a bit out of the center of town, it's no more than a 10 minute walk to many great areas around Oslo. Rooms are modern and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious; a great start to each day. I'd certainly stay here again.

The location is very nice - close to the city center and walking distance to Vigiland and some Marka starting points. Also nice atmosphere. the service was very inefficient. One reception person was often not aware of requests made earlier to another etc ...
Breakfast is excellent even though the breakfast room is a little small.

Dear WizoTravel,

Thank you for your review. And we agree, we did have some new staff when you were staying at our hotel. They have now been working for some months and are ready to welcome you once again with better routines. I hope the comfortable bed, aircondition and our first class restaurant made the stay allright. Have a great summer!

The youth of Oslo can be quiet cheerful at 1 AM in the summer, so we chose a hotel just behind the palace in a quiet residential area. Out room was streetside - a little traffic noise during the day, total quiet at night.

The decor is stylish black and white, which might be a little dismal in February but was fine in May.

The breakfast buffet was decent. There are restaurants and bus and tram lines nearby, but the city center is very compact, so it is possible to walk to all the attractions, which is good, because a one way tram ticket is about $5.00. The Oslo pass is definitely worthwhile.

Service was excellent. My son left something in a room. We called and it was held at the desk until we returned to Oslo.

Room Tip: Rooms vary in size. Mine had a bay window and was spacious.

We booked in everything prefect, and whole stay - 2 nights were really good, nothing to compliant about. Breakfast in the morning really excellent. Even last day we were checking out around 7 o'clock and we asked if we could get something small for breakfast and they made us very tasty sandwich and gave an apple :) Everybody was very helpful and pleasant. There was just 1 incident and left a bit bitter taste. As the parking is provided by hotel we never thought that there will be any problems, one day we arrived and there was no parking space, so i ve asked receptionist where can we park and she said anywhere outside on the street as it is for free anyway- and she showed us. So we did it. After maybe 2 hours we came down and we found yellow piece of paper on out windscreen - ticket - saying that we parked less than 5m away from the crossing - ok fair enough but this was just not fair, especially that on the wind screen we left our hotel details etc. and it was more less 3-4m away. Anyway I know it is not receptionist fault and neither our but shame that we were not informed to watch out- we were just told yes feel free to park anywhere... :( Anyway ticket needs to be paid. So just for your informations be aware where you are going to park as the fee is high like almost everything in Oslo!
Do not take taxi unless you want to pay hug amount, for 3km we paid 160NOK because u are paying as well for the time sent in taxi not only the km. Bizzar. And all eating out is pretty expensive - so if you want to eat good be prepared to pay 400-600 NOK per person. Of course you can find cheaper places, but I do not have any experience on that.
Anyway hotel worth recommending, staff speaks perfect english- like almost 99% of the country! Enjoy

A hotel situated close to down town, but still in a very quiet and peaceful place. Personal touch with a very serviceminded staff. Spacy rooms, clean and comfortable beds. Excellent Sushi resturant at the hotel in a nice atmosphere, and very good breakfast with fresh juice and coffie.

Room was cozy, clean and quiet. Front desk was very friendly. Breakfast was awesome & impressed. I pick this one from hotwire.com because it offers free parking, free wifi, and free breakfast. This hotel exceeds my expectation. Good job.

Very nice and quiet hotel. It's located in a residential area a few hundred meters behind the royal castle. Breakfast is good, rooms are very good.

All in all is Hotell Saga a good alternative to the mainstream chain hotels located downtown
