“better than even the best reviews had me believe!”

Wow! What a lovely, friendly, comfortable and top notch hotel! My first time in Oslo for a city break with my mum and we have recommended it to all who ask! The facade is very elegant, modern and eye catching. The staff are beyond lovely.. every single one was polite, smiling and welcoming. Amanda greeted us at the desk and we checked in within minutes, no fuss. She told us her recommendations of places to visit and how to get there. She made us feel very special and happy. Although this is an elegant hotel, we were made to feel very at home.
The room was small but lovely and minimalistic, dark colours and finished well. Bathroom spotless and everything worked. Hot powerful shower. The bed!!!! Oh the bed!!!! The softest Ive ever slept on with huge feather pillows, just a haven to snuggle into. We had room 710 on top floor so we had a wrap around balcony. We were lucky enough to have all day glorious hot weather in May so sunbathed with a glass of wine on the balcony. There is a building site opposite at the moment but I can honestly say the noise was not a problem, and the rumbling trams is actually quite a soothing sound! It has a large tv with english channels, an irning board, mini bar etc. It was cleaned every day.
Now for the food! This was the main bonus of an already lovely hotel. Coffee is served all day in the reception. Breakfast is in the adjoining bistro and oh my goodness, it is amazing! My mum stays at 5 star all inclusives usually but said that this blew them out of the water. EVERY choice is there. Greek yoghurts in little glass jars, cereals, fruits, cold cuts, herrings, sprouting veg, smoothies, breads of every style plus a big selection for a cooked breakfast. Just amazing. A huge choice of teas, coffees, juices and toppings. I was just amazed. All in the price of the hotel, served by candle light and calm music. The 'light evening meal' is served in a small cafeteria up on top floor near our room. It was actually an all you can eat 3 course buffet. It changes each night, and was lovely. Cold cuts, salads, dips, breads, a hot meal, home made soup, and a desert. Coffee, tea, infused waters etc. There is an elegant lounge attached to it after dinner and decide on the night's agenda, I loved it. I would go again. The price is low for the service and quality. Food is so expensive in Oslo that this really did asrike me as beyond expected. Cant praise it enough. And central too!!!!

Room Tip: 710, superior double had great balcony with chairs to lounge on

The benefits of staying at the Clarion Collection have been well documented in other reviews: fantastic breakfast, free tea and coffee in the reception and an evening buffet. These are huge bonuses in what is a very expensive city: you can save plenty of money if you have a big breakfast and eat at the hotel in the evening. Bedroom was also great - huge comfortable bed and very modern bathroom.

However, I felt that the hotel is probably best suited for business trips though perhaps lacks a little character if you are in Oslo on holiday. There is no bar area for guests for example which would have been nice. The buffet is also served in a pretty uninspiring room on the top floor of the hotel - although there is a small roof terrace if the weather is nice.

Also be careful with breakfast times. We checked in on a Friday evening and were told that breakfast was between 8-11am. However, these are the hours for Saturday and Sundays and when we went down for breakfast on Monday morning - just before 10am - we only just made it in time as the hours are different on weekdays. The receptionist did not tell us this during check-in so we did have to rush our breakfast on our final morning having only just got there before it closed.

We absolutely loved the Clarion Collection Hotel Folketeateret, and there isn't anything that they haven't already thought of for their guests.

We arrived at around 11pm after a long day of the Norway in a Nutshell tour. Fortunately, the hotel is situated within a convenient 5-8 minute walk from the train station. Unfortunately, the late night meal was not available by then (completely understandable!) but the front desk did give us each a large sandwich to go! There is also complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby for your consumption. The buffet breakfast was also delicious and had a wide variety of items to choose from, including all sorts of eggs, bacon/sausages, pastries, cheeses, cereal and yoghurt. There was nothing left to be desired!

We were given a handicapped room which was a pretty large size for a European hotel, and included a couch next to our bed. It was a really trendy, cool room and felt really modern. The bed was comfortable and met all of our expectations.

Since our flight was in the late afternoon, the hotel staff let us store our luggage in their luggage room free of charge. This was another really nice gesture on their behalf, which we appreciated! The luggage room also has stacks of safes, so we were able to keep our passports and money safe.

Overall, a great hotel in a great location at a great price, and we wish we could have stayed longer!

I stayed in this hotel for three nights. It's location is ideal for all places in the city. But mainly it is the wonderful staff who go out of their way to help. Insulation of windows are very good. The afternoon and evening meals are really nice for the traveler.

Clarion Folketeatret is a charming and beautiful hotel with a perfect central location. The breakfast may be the best in the world. Only high quality ingredients and some unusual twists, like freshly made espresso.

We spent 3 nights at the Clarion Hotel Folketheateret. It is a typical European hotel in that the rooms are on the small side. It is within easy walking distance to the rail station and its easy to pick up public transportation to explore the city. You can also walk to some attractions such as the Opera house the Cathedral and Parliament. Breakfast is very good and included in the price per room. The restaurant serving breakfast is also good for lunch a lite dinner or just for drinks. They serve a free last night fare for people arriving with a late check in.

This is my business hotel in Oslo. I usually stay here one night each week, and I'm very satiesfied with this hotel as it is perfect for my needs. Rooms are ok sized with good bathrooms. Some rooms with separate WC. Downside with bath is that there is little space for things you bring with you. Very good hairdryer.

If you have longer stays so be aware that it is no drawers and that there is hangers for clothes, but no lockers.

Breakfast is very good and all you need and more for a good start of the day. They also have a free evening meal, and this is usually of ok quality, and many of the guests uses this offer.

Staff is very good both in reception and in the lounge where they serve the evening meals.

No tea/coffee in room, but a machine in reception.

Room Tip: If you prefer window open ask for a room that is not to the main street. This street has many tram l...
