“Truly a top notch hotel”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

This hotel is truly a fabulous European Hotel experience. The service is incredible - the staff will do whatever is needed to make you happy. Also, the breakfast buffet included is the nicest breakfast buffet I have ever seen (free in a hotel or at a restaurant!) Multiple types of bread, smoked fish, smoothies, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, you name it. Really worth the money right there. Then, they have a "light dinner" included in the evenings which we happened to take advantage of. Now, if you want an Oslo restaurant experience, this is not, but it is certainly a wonderful dinner if you just want a meal. A salad bar, cheese and meat layout, a soup, breads, plus an entree, vegetable and potato are all there - and Dessert. You just have to buy your drinks, which I think is fair.
The rooms are beautiful, small, yes, but again, this is a European hotel and I find the room size very typical. There are some that have balconies that I bet are bigger, but we didn't stay in one of those. Also, above the dinner area, on the 8th floor is a very large lounge with a TV and a balcony so a very nice surprise and place to just sit and relax.
Location is very convenient for those travelling around Europe with only 2 blocks to the train station.

First of all, if you want to me in the center of everything, then this is the hotel for you. A 2 minute walk into the main shopping and eating areas and a 15 minutes walk to the pier's down by the harbour. I stayed here in June having varied my hotel visits over the last 6 months and was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the hotel good value, but had a distinctly boutique feel despite a quite dull exterior.

I got a warm welcome when I arrived, and was promptly told about the free buffet dinner, which seems to be a Clarion thing. Sadly I did miss out, but if you are arriving a little late then this is a godsent. Breakfast was a pleasure, and the gym was minimalist but effective for a couple of nights stay.

My only misgivings about this hotel are firstly, the room was pretty compact. Ergonomically some silly things wound me up like the pop-down desk you have doesn't have a plug near it, and the bathroom is very dimly lit with dark tiling. I also couldnt help flooding the bathroom after a shower which a little leaked into the bedroom. At this point though I a really am nit picking. There wasn't a view to look at, but when you stay in a city center you dont expect that anyway.

All in, a good stay. I would recommend this to business and leisure travellers. Just make sure you squeeze in the breakfast! My favourite part about the hotel.

We stayed at the hotel in July 2014. Very good access to the central station and popular shopping areas in Oslo. Short walks to fabulous Opera House building, museums and other points of interest.

The staff were very welcoming and having travelled for several hours by train from Bergen recommended the free coffee and cakes available in the 7th floor lounge.

This hotel is unusual in offering a free light buffet meal also on the 7th floor in the evening. Very good though little choice, we can recommend it as a good option after a long day out.

Breakfast was on the ground floor and of a very high standard.

Our room overlooked the central courtyard and was quiet though no view to speak of. The room was of a good standard, personally I don't like black our dark coloured rooms. The bathroom was black tiles and no windows. Combine this with poor lighting and it's not the best experience for a person with weaker eyesight. Overall though our stay was a good experience and a hotel we can recommend.

Nice welcome in the reception. Complementary eveneing buffet. Situated in the heart of Oslo, this is an excellent Choice. The rooms are clean and silent. On a hot day, the room was cool and nice. There is also a terrace where you can sit and enjoy a coffee, tea or a drink.

We loved our short stay in this hotel. The staff is super nice always ready to help you, the room was big and clean. The best is the breakfast with a huge choice of delicious healthy food, free diner (also delicious and healthy) and a 7 floor with a cozy salon with music, magazines, a nice terrace and a bar were you can relax, chill or share a glass of wine.
Very well situated in the city center.
If we ever come back to Oslo we'll definitely choose this hotel again. :)

The hotel is very clean and the service is good. Location is great. The basic rooms are tiny. The area between the bed and the bathroom is about 2 feet. There is no counter top in the bathroom. It wasn't that big of a deal as we did not spend much time in the room, however if you plan to spend a while in the hotel, you may want to upgrade rooms or choose a different hotel. Breakfast was good.

This is, quite simply, a delightful hotel. It's tucked away on Folketeateret St., a short walk from Oslo's Central Station, and is very close to popular thoroughfare, Karl Johans Gate. You're also just several feet away from shopping along the pedestrian-only section of Torgata St. which offers a healthy variety of retail therapy.
This particular property is nestled within a complex housing several restaurants/cafés, a theatre, and various bars and clubs (the area simmers with nightlife).

I found check-in to be quite straightforward and the front desk attendant warm and informative. In general, that staff was very helpful. In the lobby, to your right, you'll find the restaurant where complimentary breakfast is served (a truly remarkable spread of all manner of Hot and Cold selections--you don't want to miss it; it's one of the better ones I've experienced in some time) while elevators to rooms are located to your left. Round the clock complimentary coffee/tea self-service is available in the lobby.

My room, a Standard, featuring a minimalist, modern design, I found to be a bit of a tight fit but rather functionally efficient--more than sufficient for one. Closet space is close to non-existent and your included bath product is a multi-use soap dispenser. You should pack addnl. shampoo and/or bath products as needed, if the aforementioned will not be sufficient. Additionally, I did not notice a Safe in the room (though I understand this is likely present in some others).

Other notables: the hotel offers guests complimentary wi-fi (which I found to be fairly reliable) and if you don't have your own device you can get online via the public MAC computer (which is rarely in use, so no wait times) in the lobby. Also, be sure to check out the lounge and adjoining rooftop terrace on the top floor.

*If you're arriving at Oslo's main airport (OSL), it is quite easy to hop on the Airport Express directly to Oslo Central Station. From there, it's a short walk to the Clarion.

Overall, a very enjoyable experience. The hotel offers excellent value for money and is a solid 4-star experience. I highly recommend it.
