“Good value hotel with central location”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

My husband and I stayed here 4 nights in total in May 2014 - 2 at the start of our Norway trip and 2 at the end.

Arrival - you can take the train from the airport to downtown and it is a few blocks from the train station. We arrived late morning after our flight got in. Although early for check in they had a room available so let us check in early.

Both rooms: The room was a decent size, tv, wifi worked well in the room and room darkening curtains (important in the spring / summer). No problems with noise from street or other rooms. No in room safes or mini bars (none of our Norway hotels had these).

First stay was room 308 - this was a room meant for allergy / disability. Wood floor instead of carpet, shower with no step up and grab handles by the toilet.

Second stay was room 311 - regular room (see pics).

The only thing wrong with both rooms were the bathroom doors. They have sliding doors. In room 308 it was very tough to pull open / closed. Can't imagine doing it if I had a disability. In room 311 it was off the track (not possible to "lift" bakc on track) so it wouldn't close fully and properly.

Breakfast Buffet: Very good European buffet with lots of options.

Internet worked well in the rooms but if you want to use the terminals in the lobby there is a charge that is quite expensive.

Location is central within easy walking distance to a lot of the main attractions. Next door to the hotel is a small grocery store (Kiwi) if you need anything.

Overall this was a good hotel for the cost and we would happily stay here again.

For those not used to traveling in Europe / Norway:
1) Rooms are smaller than in the US
2) Hotel ratings are different - generally a 4 star hotel in Europe would be 3 or 3.5 star in the US
3) Bathrooms usually have a shower or a bathtub but not usually both. If you have a preference check before you book
4) Queen / Double beds are two twins pushed together. The hotel can organize the room two different ways then depending on what is requested
5) Duvets are separate for each person - not one big one. Great if one of you is always hot and the other always cold
6) Pillows are flat - you'll have to double them over to prevent your head from hitting the mattress.
7) Common US breakfast foods are not usually served except maybe at larger chain hotels (oatmeal, pancakes, waffles). Eggs are usually hard boiled or scrambled - not omelettes.
8) In Norway most people speak English very well - so no worries about communications.
9) In Norway food and drink are very expensive compared to the USA. A pint of beer is $10-13, a half liter of soda is $5, a glass of wine is $13 to $17. Entrees in an average restaurant run $25. Things are about half price at the grocery store. If you're on a budget breakfast is included, get groceries and make sandwiches for lunch and then eat dinner out.
10) European public transit is very nice, clean, pleasant and efficient. If the schedule says 12:02 the train leaves at 12:02 so don't run late as it will already be gone!

Have a great time on your trip!

Whatever you expect from a hotel of the chain Park Inn hotels by Radisson blu, you will find it also here. Clean, modern, good service and full facilities. Plus in the middle of the city of Oslo.
Also typical Oslo. High quality at high price!

Located in an area where they lock the reception before midnight. At arrival they couldn't handle credit cards and one of the two lifts was out of order.

Room had been occupied earlier the same day by other guests and their reservation papers in German were left in the middle of the room. Since their reservation was starting the same day it seems they must have been moved to a better room. Just wish housekeeping had cleaned the room afterwards. Room was tiny and a third bed had been squeezed into the room in place of ordinary furniture. As a business traveller I didn't need that. Internet is limited to 1 device.

The bathroom had two blinding fluorescent lamps. Even so the shower wasn't clean. From the looks of it the previous guest must have had a cold. At least I hope it was a cold. Disgusting. Oh - and the drain in the sink was completely clogged.

Breakfast service was polite, and the buffet provided a nice selection of freshly cut fruit. As Park Inn is the discount offer from Radisson (you don't get everything for 200 €/night) there is no bacon and their ham is of the quality you would never buy at home.

During check-out staff demanded my credit card even though the room was pre-paid. They realized their error and returned my card. With around 30 nights every year in Oslo I have seen the most, and it doesn't get any worse than Radisson Park Inn.

Dear Nubus,
Thank you so much for your property overview. Let me just begin by apologizing. This is certainly not the sort of feedback I am accustomed to. You may be certain that all related personnel will meet with me directly, as this is not indicative of the level of service we aim to provide. I did appreciate you noticing our strengths, too, and admire your evenhandedness.

I do hope you will consider a return visit. If you'll be so kind as to contact me directly, so that I can ensure that your next visit is indicative of a true Park Inn experience.

All the best,

Oslo is one very expensive town so this hotel is a real value deal. Centrally located ideal for all parts of the city centre and trams and the new harbor district, boats to the museum island etc. Spacious enough rooms, well appointed (don't expect a view!), with kettle and free wi fi (can be a little fiddly). Excellent breakfast included. This is not a hotel you're going to be hanging out in, it's a base, but a very good one.

Good things about this hotel is right in Oslo Center,Breakfast with lots of choice in the morning.A shop just around and you can pick up drinks and snacks.
The rooms like most Park Inn brand. Overnight staff Tommy are very helpful.

The bad things about this hotel are:
The WIFi are sucks, for over US$200+ a night, you cannot log on the free or paid one for over 15 mins. without a cut out in between.
No matter you're using,IOS,Android,IE ,all are the same.Sometime you cannot log in at all when too many people using at the same time....Please get rid of Swisscom !!

The breakfast room are too small for such a big breakfast, the staff DO NOT check if people are hotel guest and let them use the breakfast.Unless you are up early or else you got no chance to get a space to eat !!

Went there for sightseeing trip. The hotel is pretty centrally located. It will take you about 10 minutes to get here from the central station by foot. And your right next to the Karl Johans Gate.
Rooms are small, clean and modern. Same goes for the bathroom.
The room to the backside of the hotel are very quiet. Breakfast was good and plenty though the breakfast are was pretty crowded.

Picked this based on price and other reviews. Really liked this hotel. Location was superb, short walk to castle, city hall/harbor and Karl Johan Gate. Breakfast was very good with plenty of options.
Arrived on first night and there was a music festival in town with a very loud venue right down the street. Room was quiet anyway. There was also no noise from other guests despite hotel being full.
In a very expensive city, this place almost seemed like a bargain.

Dear FishmanPA60,
Thank you for your wonderful comments - we very much appreciate your positive feedback. You are quite right, for a hotel with a location in the heart of the city, the Park Inn is remarkably quiet.
Please stay with us again soon if your travels bring you back to Oslo.
