Owner description: The Vigeland Park is the world's largest sculpture park made by a single artist, and is one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions. The park is open to visitors all year round. The unique sculpture park is Gustav Vigeland's lifework with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron. Vigeland was also in charge of the design and architectural layout of the park. The Vigeland Park was mainly completed between 1939 and 1949. Most of the sculptures are placed in five units along an 850 meter long axis: The Main gate, the Bridge with the Children's playground, the Fountain, the Monolith plateau and the Wheel of Life.

“The best tourist attraction in Oslo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

You can't leave Oslo without seeing Vigelandsparken.

In the winter it's big and calm, in the summer bstling with tourists and kids playing & bathing.

But I really like the statues. They're an interesting contrast to the super-human greek gods and godesses one often finds in Greece and Italy.

Don't leave Oslo without having seen this one!

“A must-seen!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

On a sunny day this park is just stunning. Statues and fountains look like a magic patchwork of shades, rocks and water. Don't miss this park, even just for a short walk or a picnic with friends.
Tip: don't go to the café as the staff is incredibly rude and prices are extremely high.

“Amazing place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2013

This park is huge, well laid out, full of amazing art by mr. Vigeland, and beautiful gardens during the summer months! The fountains will not be running until summer 2014, but they were still amazing to see! Make sure you take your time here as there is so much to see. The park is free to enter. If you would like to visit vigeland's old studio, now a gorgeous museum, it is a 5 minute walk from the park. I suggest going to both since they are both amazingly beautiful and they offer very different sides of vigeland's art and life. The museum does have an entrance fee or is free for those with an oslo pass. The park is very easy to get to from the metro leaving nearby city hall. Get off at vigeland's park stop and you are right at the entrance! The metro is also free with the oslo pass. There is also a great free museum about the history of oslo and cafes for those looking for a bite to eat with a great view of the statues.

“Great park for a run”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2013

This is a large park. The main areas could be crowded with tourists. But there is lots of open space and trail around the park for an extended run.
