The only linen was a mattress protector stretched over some of the mattress and 2 quilts. No sheets. There was no lift, which was essential for us and is advertised as available. The furniture shown on the internet looked nothing like the unit we were shown.. We did not stay, but did receive a full refund, but then had to find alternative accommodation, with little help from the staff at Gruner apartments.

Nice overall place to stay. The biggest problem is checking in, you will need to be able to make phone call to get access. We did not have a phone and got lucky when the check-in receptionist happened to come out of the garage to leave just after we arrived. He was very friendly and helped us get settled in. The room itself was small but comfortable and clean. The Wi-Fi, cable TV and phone boxes where all sitting on the floor without a case, table or shelf with cables all tangled laying on the floor. We were able to rent a parking spot in the basement garage which was very helpful. The room had a small balcony, well stocked kitchen and good storage space. Oslo is very expensive and the studio unit was a great value so we could cook in the unit.

The set up of the Gruner Apartments is different from that of a classic hotel. There isn't a front desk at which to check in, but you notify the apartment attendants as you approach. Our family of 10 arrived at separate times, and I did not interact with the Gruner folks, but those who did said they were pleasant. The size of our party was what led us to the Gruner in the first place, and we booked two rooms: a 2-bedroom and a 3-bedroom. Both suites had a sizeable kitchen/dining area, complete with full stove/oven, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and sink. It is furnished with an assortment of IKEA dishes and utensils, including pots and pans for cooking. Items were not consistent between the two suites we had: numbers of dishes varied oddly, and one room had an electric water kettle, while the other had a coffee maker. The dining area has a nice dining table with seats for 6-8.
Outside the kitchen/dining area, there is a L-shaped couch with coffee table. It sits within view of the flat-screen TV, though I can't vouch for channel offerings, because we only watched TV to view films taken on our helmet-cam. If you plan to do so, bring your own cable, as it is not supplied. By the entryway door, there is a coat and shoe rack, and plenty of space where my family chose to store all of our luggage.
The rooms themselves are small but comfortable. Beds are queen-size, and each room has a wardrobe for clothes, a nightstand with lamp, and enough space for a suitcase. Our rooms were on the 6th of 6 floors, so the ceilings in our bedrooms were vaulted, and it gave them a nice (if occasionally inconvenient) character. There were 1-2 outlets per room, with a couple additional accessible outlets in the common area. A surprising side effect of being on the top floor was how warm the apartments got! Having been to Oslo during the winter before, we were expecting quite the opposite, and couldn't believe when we (more than once) opened a window to let in the sub-freezing outside air.
There is one bathroom per suite, with a commode, a sink, a mirror, and a shower with adjustable showerhead. The tile flooring in the bathroom is heated, and towels (of varying size and quality) are provided. Small note: there is practically no counter space in the bathroom.
On the bottom floor of the Gruner, there is a laundry room. It is used during the day by the Gruner staff for cleaning linens, so it is only open to residents 1700-2300 (5pm to 11pm) daily. There is an electronic lock on the door (your room key will let you in), but it is timed not to allow entry until exactly 1700. There are about 4 washers and 3 dryers, and all instructions are in Norwegian. Nevertheless, this English-speaking family managed.
The Gruner Apartments are conveniently located near Oslo's city centre, a very short 5-minute walk to the Heimdalsgata bus stop. From there, it is only 3-4 stops on the 30 or 31 bus to arrive at Jernbanetorget, where you can connect to additional buses, trams, and the T-Bane to get you anywhere you want to go. As a side note, just beyond the bus stop is a river. If you walk over the river on the left-hand side of the road, the first building after you cross is a hospital with pharmacy. This worked out remarkably convenient when (on the same day) I broke my arm sledding and my nephew broke his wrist snowboarding. The medical staff was friendly, professional, and helpful!

Room Tip: There is a reliable elevator, so do not be afriad of a high-level room. Possibly warmer higher up.

My partner and I stayed at Grüner Apartments two times, once over Christmas and then a few days later over New Years Eve. Our first stay there was lovely, we were meant to checkin at midnight (a time arranged with the management before hand) as checkin usually ends a 11pm. Unfortunately our bus from the airport never showed up, so we were unable to get the bus until 3am that morning, I phoned the reception, to let them know of the delay, and they said that was okay. Eventually they met us at the apartment around 4am, we apologized for the inconvenience, and they were okay with it. The apartment was nice and spacious, warm and the kitchen had pots, pans, kettle, cups, cutlery, fridge, cooker pretty much everything we need to cook Christmas dinner. We had a lovely balcony and everything was spotless. Unfortunately it states that the beds are king size, but they are actually just two singles pushed together, this was a little let down, as it wasn't as comfortable as it could have been. All in all a lovely stay. Our second stay was average, be aware reception does not open until 11am, and checkin isn't until 3pm, so you may have wait around a little like we did. We were able to leave our luggage in the reception until our room was ready, they luckily let us checkin slightly earlier at 1pm, so it wasn't too bad. The second apartment was okay, there wasn't much kitchen ware, so be aware to take a tin opener, if you don't want to be knocking unsuccessfully on other peoples doors, like me, duh! The pots and pans were still dirty, and the spare cushions in the wardrobe were laden with something horrid. Other than that, it was nice. I would advice, they prefer card payments only, so be aware of this on checkin. Would recommend, nice area, plenty of little grocers, and the city centre is only a 10 minute walk away, nice place, helpful staff.
